Michelin Guide Expands to Cover All of Turkey

The MICHELIN Guide is expanding to cover the whole of Turkey for the first time. MICHELIN Guide expands to cover all of Turkey for the first time. Outstanding examples of gastronomy will span from the vibrant dining scenes of major cities to emerging regional destinations. The MICHELIN Guide's first nationwide selection covering all of Turkey will be announced by year-end.

The MICHELIN Guide is expanding nationwide across Turkey this year, opening a new chapter in its presence throughout the country. This development, extending from the bustling streets of major cities to charming towns, reflects Turkey's growing dynamism, diversity and international appeal in the gastronomy world.
Following the introduction of the MICHELIN Guide to Istanbul in 2023, its geographic scope gradually expanded with the addition of İzmir, Muğla and Cappadocia. With this year's expansion to cover all of Turkey, the selection will comprehensively represent Turkey's rich gastronomic heritage, with the country's first nationwide selection to be announced by the end of 2026.

Turkey's Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), which plays an important role in promoting Turkey, continues to support international marketing campaigns as a Destination Partner of the MICHELIN Guide and contributes to effectively promoting the country through gastronomic storytelling. Meanwhile, the inspection and selection processes carried out by Michelin inspectors remain entirely independent, as always, unaffected by any partnership conducted in Turkey or anywhere else in the world, with all processes carried out solely by the MICHELIN Guide according to its own methodology.

Working according to principles of anonymity and complete independence, MICHELIN Guide inspectors are gradually building Turkey's national selection based solely on the quality offered by kitchens, with the evaluation process founded on five universal criteria: the quality of products, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavours, the chef's personality reflected in the cuisine, and consistency over time.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, said the following regarding the matter: "We are delighted that the MICHELIN Guide is expanding to cover all of Turkey. Turkish cuisine stands out for its diversity, rooted traditions and striking creativity. Chefs across the country continue to build a vibrant and contemporary dining scene while reinterpreting regional heritage."

In addition to its restaurant selection, the MICHELIN Guide shares a special list of carefully selected hotels located in all regions across Turkey and throughout the world. Introduced in 2024, MICHELIN Keys reward the most select properties in the Guide's hotel selection.

Presented with a similar approach to MICHELIN Stars awarded to restaurants, the MICHELIN Key highlights hotels that stand out for their design, architecture, service and character. All hotels featured in the Guide can be booked directly through the MICHELIN Guide website and mobile application.
