Millions of COPD, Alzheimer's, cancer and bedridden patients in Turkey are worried about going to hospitals due to coronavirus. Dr. Tayyar Vardar, noting that these patients in the risk group are seeking solutions to continue their treatment against coronavirus, stated that in-home physician services could be an effective solution, while drawing attention to the fact that millions of people have experienced coronavirus panic with any flu-like symptoms in recent times. Coronavirus, which spread rapidly over a short period and caused thousands of deaths, brings fear and panic with it. Following the first cases in Turkey, certain concerns and anxieties preceded the virus. Dr. Tayyar Vardar, Home Care Specialist at Medical Center, stated that millions of people in Turkey experience great anxiety and panic at any flu-like symptom due to coronavirus, which has symptoms resembling the flu and spreads easily through respiratory transmission, noting that not every transmitted virus should be suspected as coronavirus, and that panic and anxiety resulting from this situation can be easily prevented through examinations and tests conducted by health professionals at home. In this period where staying indoors as much as possible and avoiding crowds play a critical role, Dr. Tayyar Vardar noted that people experiencing flu-like symptoms find themselves in a helpless dilemma at home, and stated that in-home health services, which are quite common in Europe, could play an effective role during such sensitive times and help alleviate anxiety situations.

Put coronavirus concerns behind you

Dr. Tayyar Vardar, noting that people experiencing flu-like symptoms similar to coronavirus such as nasal discharge, high fever or severe cough have become anxious, stated: "Especially since we are in spring months, flu-like illnesses that are frequently seen have symptoms close to the widely spreading coronavirus symptoms, which can cause panic among people. To prevent concerns caused by such situations and to prevent panic, patients can have the diagnosis and monitoring of their ongoing and newly emerging illnesses conducted in their own homes under the supervision of specialist physicians. Particularly with the in-home care method, which is quite common in Europe, physicians examine the patient at their location, and all assessments regarding the patient's diagnosis, treatment and monitoring are carried out at home. Thus, instead of going to a health facility or hospital, you can receive treatment in your own home. In this respect, in-home health services can be seen as a very effective solution both in reducing the burden on hospitals and in preventing the spread of such epidemics."

Do not neglect your treatment!

Dr. Tayyar Vardar, explaining that certain risk groups can receive treatment from physicians at home, said the following, particularly for those in the risk group: "Those over 60 years of age and those with chronic illnesses, as well as those undergoing cancer treatment, are in the risk group against coronavirus. In addition, there are approximately 500,000 Alzheimer's patients in Turkey, approximately 400,000 bedridden patients, approximately 15 million diabetic patients, and more than 4 million COPD patients. In situations where going out is a risk and therefore it is not possible to benefit from hospital services, in-home care services provide a good solution opportunity."

Create your own quarantine area at home

Dr. Vardar, stating that special quarantine or protection areas should be created for each person in the home or workplace against coronavirus, spoke as follows: "Coronavirus, which was first seen in our country, caused large numbers of deaths in many countries. Here, the protection rules announced by the Ministry of Health against the virus must be strictly followed. While implementing these rules, we should create a protection area for ourselves based on hygiene and non-contact principles. Avoiding close contact, not sharing our personal belongings, maintaining physical distance at a certain line in the home and workplace, these and dozens of similar methods can help us create a personal protection area, reduce the risk to a minimum, and narrow the effect zone against a potential virus."
