"The Oscars of Cartooning" Results Announced

The Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, which brings together cartoonists and cartoons from around the world on a free-thinking platform and is known as the "Oscars of Cartooning," awarded first prize to Engin Selçuk from Turkey. Artist Mahmood Nazari from Iran received second prize, while artist Marco De Angelis from Italy was awarded third prize. The 'Strong Girls, Strong Tomorrows' Award was given to Fethi Gürcan Mermertaş from Turkey. The 38th Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition entries will be exhibited at Kadıköy Municipality Caddebostan Cultural Center between 13–31 January. 564 cartoonists from 63 countries participated with a total of 1,531 works

An international jury chaired by Antonio Antunes (Portugal) and comprising world-renowned cartoonists and artists including Ercan Akyol (Turkey), Fawzy Morsy (Egypt), Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu (Turkey), Liza Donnelly (USA), Marlene Pohle (Argentina), Piyale Madra (Turkey), Pol Leurs (Luxembourg), and Tan Oral (Turkey) evaluated 93 works by 76 cartoonists from 30 countries that passed the preliminary selection. Following the jury's evaluation, Engin Selçuk's work was awarded first prize. Iranian artist Mahmood Nazari received second prize, while Italian artist Marco De Angelis was awarded third prize. The 'Strong Girls, Strong Tomorrows' Award was given to Fethi Gürcan Mermertaş. The Selection Committee also awarded Merit Certificates to Nikola Listes from Croatia, Halit Kurtulmuş Aytoslu and Şevket Yalaz from Turkey.   Cartoons on display at Kadıköy Municipality Caddebostan Cultural Center Art Gallery can be viewed until 31 January.
