Cartoons Will Compete, Healthy Living Will Win
Yeşilay is holding the 4th International Yeşilay Cartoon Competition to draw the world's, the country's and especially young people's attention to addictions and raise awareness. The competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from around the world and Turkey. This year's theme is "The Importance of Healthy Living in the 100th Year of the Fight Against Addictions." Applications can be submitted until 7 February 2020 through yesilay.org.tr.
Yeşilay General Manager Sultan Işık, noting that 2020 marks the 100th year since Yeşilay's founding and that this year they are focusing on the importance of healthy living in the fight against all addictions, stated: "We are organizing the 4th International Cartoon Competition under the theme 'The Importance of Healthy Living in the 100th Year of the Fight Against Addictions.'
Our competition, which has received intense interest for 3 years, received applications from 414 cartoonists from 51 countries last year with 787 different works. To date, the total number of works submitted to the competition has reached 2,848.
In addition to our competition carrying out the mission of fighting addiction in the best way globally, we are also very pleased with its contribution to the development and dissemination of cartoon art. To date, 70 percent of the works that competed belonged to foreign cartoonists.
Among them are world-renowned names such as Soltan Soltanli from Azerbaijan, Luc Descheemaeker from Belgium, Silvano Mello from Brazil, Kambiz Derambakhsh from Iran and Borislav Stankoviç from Serbia.
At the same time, many young cartoonists introduced their names for the first time through this competition. This year we are looking forward to seeing inspiring works from cartoonists from all over the world that will reflect their own cultural perspectives," he said.
Century Prize Added to the Competition
When determining the theme for the 4th International Yeşilay Cartoon Competition, it was based on the fact that awareness of healthy living and habits developed in this direction would contribute to keeping away from addictive substances.
