Kalamış Summer Festival Begins
Kadıköy Municipality is launching the third edition of the Kalamış Summer Festival this year. Starting on 7 July with Charlie Chaplin's "The Gold Rush," the festival will feature 43 concerts and 17 film screenings over two months.
Kadıköy Municipality continues to offer residents a full summer season with theatre productions, cinema screenings, concerts and numerous special events. The eagerly anticipated Kalamış Summer Festival, which draws significant public interest each year, has now begun its countdown.
The festival, which will make its mark with concerts and films, opens on 7 July and will feature a total of 60 events comprising 43 concerts and 17 film screenings.
Running until 10 September, the festival opening will feature a Charlie Chaplin film, as it did last year. The 1925 Chaplin film "The Gold Rush" will be accompanied by the Avrasya Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Conductor Orçun Orçunsel.
Kardeş Türküler 30th Anniversary Concert
The Kalamış Summer Festival will bring together important names from Turkey and abroad this year. With a diverse programme featuring jazz, classical music, rock, world music, electronic music, hip hop and popular music, the festival will kick off with the first concert by Kardeş Türküler, celebrating their 30th year of artistic activity. For 30 years, performing from the Black Sea to the Balkans, from Mesopotamia to the Caucasus, Kardeş Türküler has shared songs and dances for peace and brotherhood. They will give their 30th anniversary concert at Kalamış Atatürk Park on the evening of 8 July as part of the festival.Cinema under the stars returns to Kalamış this summer
The festival's cinema programme this year will consist of selections from Sinematek/Sinema Evi. During the festival, 17 films will be screened every Wednesday and Sunday at 21:00. Starting with Charlie Chaplin's silent classic "The Gold Rush," some of the cult films to be shown at the festival include: Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Red Sky, Mad Max, Life is Beautiful, Ah Beautiful Istanbul, Chico & Rita. Ticket prices for events at Kalamış Summer Festival have been set at TRY 50 this year. Art enthusiasts can purchase festival tickets (maximum 2 per person) through Mobilet's website and mobile application. By selecting one of the ticket purchasing options—"Support for Street Animals," "Reading Kadıköy Project" or "Newborn Support"—art enthusiasts can become part of a solidarity initiative.
