Kadir Has University Presents the "Marie Curies of the Mediterranean" Exhibition

Kadir Has University will host the "Mediterranean Marie Curies" exhibition, which showcases the life stories and work of successful female scientists from the Mediterranean region. This exhibition offers an opportunity to discover the stories of women who serve as sources of inspiration in science.

Kadir Has University, as a partner of the MEDNIGHT consortium composed of organizations from 8 different Mediterranean countries, will present the "Mediterranean Marie Curies" exhibition between 9 September and 1 October in the Entrance Hall of Block D at Kadir Has University. The exhibition will open simultaneously on 6 September in Alicante (Spain), Milan and Messina (Italy), Monastir (Tunisia), Nicosia (Cyprus), and Cazin (Bosnia and Herzegovina), on 8 September in Ischia and Athens (Greece), and on 9 September in Istanbul (Turkey).

The exhibition opening will be held by Kadir Has University Rector Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz, Vice Rector, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Nihat Berker, and Rector's Advisor and MEDNIGHT Project Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taner Arsan.

"Mediterranean Marie Curies" addresses the lives and achievements of female scientists and researchers from the Mediterranean region who have received the prestigious Marie Curie grants from the European Union and/or whose work has contributed to these grants. The exhibition consists of 29 panels, each prepared with an intimate perspective. Each panel presents the biographies of scientists and researchers, ranging from their childhood and motivations to their university education and professional accomplishments. The diverse backgrounds also reflect the richness of the Mediterranean region. Furthermore, while the exhibition emphasizes the impact of Marie Curie grants on the careers of scientists and researchers, it also provides insights into their hobbies and family life.

Translated into nine languages and exhibited in various countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, "Mediterranean Marie Curies" represents scientists and researchers from 22 countries, 19 of which are from the Mediterranean region. This global reach draws attention to the shared values and objectives of the scientific community, while aiming to inspire younger generations, emphasize the cultural richness and scientific talent of the Mediterranean region, and increase the visibility of women in science and research.

Designed by El Caleidoscopio and the Marie Curie Alumni Association, partners of the MEDNIGHT consortium, and financed by the European Union's MSCA programme, we invite you to visit the exhibition and discover the stories of these extraordinary women.
