Jazz Festival to Begin in Istanbul

Jazz stars take the stage at CRR this weekend in succession. The mini jazz festival extends into Monday evening. Don't miss concerts that are rarely seen on Istanbul's music calendar! Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) will host 3 concerts for jazz enthusiasts at Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall on 15-16 and 17 February. Renowned bassist Avishai Cohen Trio will perform on 15 February, Italian singer and songwriter Chiara Pancaldi on 16 February, and Vincent Peirani, who aims to transform his quintet into a chamber rock music orchestra, will perform on 17 February at CRR.

50 Years Old, 50 Countries, 50 Concerts

Renowned virtuoso bassist, composer and vocalist Avishai Cohen is celebrating his 50th birthday with his new project '50 50 50' representing world sounds, performing 50 concerts in 50 countries. As part of the project, Cohen will meet with Istanbul jazz lovers at CRR on Saturday, 15 February at 20:00. The artist will be accompanied at the concert by Elchin Shirinov on piano and Noam David on drums. The artist also offers young artists a unique opportunity through the 'Avishai Cohen Music Award 2020' to record and release their own album.

Jazz Echoes from Brazil

Italian jazz singer and songwriter Chiara Pancaldi will meet Istanbul jazz lovers for the first time on 16 February Sunday at 20:00 with music carrying echoes from Brazil. Pancaldi, who performs concerts in many countries around the world and shares the stage with renowned musicians, will perform songs from her "Songs Don't Grow Old Alone" album at her CRR concert.

"Chamber Rock Music Orchestra"

On 17 February, French artist Vincent Peirani, one of European jazz's most charismatic figures, will be at CRR with his album Living Being II (Night Walker), which transforms classical rock into jazz. At the concert, Peirani and his accordion will be accompanied by Emile Parisien on saxophone, Tony Paeleman on keyboards, Julien Herné on bass guitar and Yoann Serra on drums. Vincent Peirani says his group wants to be a 'chamber rock music orchestra' and points to "Living Being II - Night Walker" as proof.
