Isabel Muñoz Meets Art Enthusiasts at Pera Müzesi Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation's Pera Müzesi hosted special meetings as part of the Isabel Muñoz: A New Story exhibition, featuring photographs by renowned photographer Isabel Muñoz of Göbekli Tepe and archaeological sites in its surroundings. During tours guided by Muñoz herself, participants had the opportunity to get to know the artist more closely while learning firsthand from the artist about the production process and works of the exhibition, presented for the first time at Pera Müzesi.

Inspiring meeting with Suna's Daughters Summer Institute participants

Among the visitors who toured the exhibition under the artist's guidance were participants from Suna's Daughters Summer Institute aged 14-18, girls from Şanlıurfa and female students from Koç School. The girls who listened to Muñoz discuss her photographic work on Göbekli Tepe and Stone Peaks during these inspiring meetings examined with interest the reflections of this important archaeological heritage in contemporary art.

"I found a spiritual element that spoke to me at Göbekli Tepe"

Isabel Muñoz, who demonstrates an effort to document unique ways of life around the world in her work as well as record and pass on cultural heritage to the future, says that the archaeological work she carried out for this exhibition was a new experience for her. The Spanish artist, following questions about mystery, origins and infinity at Göbekli Tepe and its surroundings, which is thought to be possibly the world's oldest cult site, expressed her enthusiasm for the project as follows: "We have a rich Paleolithic art tradition in Spain, but I found a spiritual element at Göbekli Tepe that spoke to me. I tried to include myself in this ancient culture and understand it in my own way. I was inspired by their knowledge of the stars and used lighting close to natural light to create my images." The artist, who observes ways of life, rituals and traditions of cultures from different geographies and pursues new stories, said: "I believe in the power of the visual medium and that art can tell many things including life and beauty. It gives me great satisfaction to think that my photography can support people in different ways." The Isabel Muñoz: A New Story – Photographs from Göbekli Tepe and Its Surroundings exhibition, which offers the opportunity to explore this mysterious geography of human history through Muñoz's striking perspective, will be open to visitors at Pera Müzesi until 17 September.
