Stage Performance: "Hababam Class with Sparkle"

Sparkle Children Perform Classic Comedy with Celebrities, Receive Standing Ovation

The Sparkle Association's "Hababam Class with Sparkle" theatrical production took the stage at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Platinum on 18 December. The single-act performance, attended by Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, drew significant interest from political, business, arts and society circles. Directed by Seren Fosforoğlu, with Neşe Gönül serving as project creator, "Hababam Class with Sparkle" brought together visually impaired children from the Association for Supporting Visually Impaired Children with celebrities on the theatre stage.

Celebrity Parade on Stage

The Sparkle children received support in the "Hababam Class with Sparkle" theatrical production from Abdullah Avcı, Ayşenil Şamlıoğlu, Doğukan Manço, Hakan Yılmaz, Prof. Dr. Bahadır Erdem, Pınar Sabancı, Şahnaz Çakıralp, Okan Karacan and Hande Sezer Pekcan as performers, while Gökhan Tepe and Nil Karaibrahimgil accompanied the production with songs.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy Offers Congratulations

Following the performance, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy congratulated the actors, noting that the children delivered a very fine performance and that he was deeply moved. Ersoy stated: "We watched together Hababam Class, a very important work by Rıfat Ilgaz. Teacher Mahmut said that a school is not merely a place surrounded by walls with a roof overhead. Every place is a school. What matters is learning, teaching and working together toward a goal of achievement. Today this hall became a very fine school for us. We again learned together how a dream, determination and a cluster of successes can take shape. I extend my gratitude and thanks to Sparkle Association and all who contributed, particularly those who gave of their effort."

Seren Fosforoğlu: "Our Children See with the Eyes of the Heart"

Seren Fosforoğlu, who directed the "Hababam Class with Sparkle" theatrical production that took the stage at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Platinum on 18 December, noted that she had realized a dream, saying: "My greatest thanks to my father Enis Fosforoğlu. I hope he is watching. Everything I learned, I learned from him." In her remarks, Fosforoğlu extended thanks to the Sparkle children, all the performers and everyone who contributed, stating: "Our children see with the eyes of the heart. They have an incredible imagination." Neşe Gönül, Co-Chair of the Association for Supporting Visually Impaired Children, then took the stage, saying: "As Sparkle Association, while we aim to help our visually impaired children adapt to school and social life in the best way possible, we conduct numerous social activities and educational initiatives to enable them to succeed. Today we added another to these efforts. We set out with a dream. Our dream was to see our children on the theatre stage. Our children prepared for this evening over months. Moreover with such a major project as Hababam Class, with the participation of celebrities and working alongside professional performers. Today we are very pleased to have put our name to this meaningful and beautiful project. Our children's active participation in the arts opened new windows for them. First they learned to be spectators and tasted the flavour of theatre by experiencing its inner workings. Staging their performance was not an end for them but a beginning in meeting with art."
