Elif Saltık's Exhibition: Khaki Ceramic artist Elif Saltık, who has gained prominence in recent years by conveying her imagined imagery through a fairy-tale language into her art and the materials she uses, presents her personal exhibition titled 'Khaki' at Galeri Diani starting 4 February 2023! Ceramic artist Elif Saltık's personal exhibition titled 'Khaki' will take place at Galeri Diani between 4 February and 22 February 2023. Elif Saltık says 'When you look at a cup, a bowl, a panel or a sculpture, it should perhaps make you smile or make you think.' For this reason, she points out that the works she produces have stories to tell viewers and she wants these to be heard. She adds actual pieces from nature alongside her works as companions. Through this, she emphasizes that her stories are further articulated and made more comprehensible. Elif Saltık begins by saying: 'It's as if I wrote a play being watched on a theater stage and I wanted the viewer to wait with curiosity for the next scene. Yes, I got excited first, and quite a lot at that.' 'My journey with ceramics begins to take shape the moment I take clay in my hand. Clay has its limits and I love pushing these limits so much that I suddenly find myself in a story. Working with different textures, telling small stories with these textures excites me greatly. My true starting point is Nature. My works, in my view, consist of forms, colors and textures that we see but don't perceive, and when I combine what I manage to capture, even partially, with human stories, it's as if I'm working a fantastic world onto the clay. Especially tree and soil texture, form and structure trigger my creativity incredibly. By combining the theme of nature with human figures, I present all kinds of emotional accumulation integrated with fired earth to the viewer,' she said.
