Borusan Contemporary Unveils Three New Exhibitions Featuring Works from Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu at Perili Köşk

Borusan Contemporary will welcome spring with three new exhibitions featuring works from Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu. The exhibitions "Overture: New Works from Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu," "Ola Kolehmainen: Sinan Project," and "Sediment of Days," opening on 4 March 2017, will be on view at Perili Köşk until 3 September 2017. Curated by Kathleen Forde, Director of Art at Borusan Contemporary, and representing the second installment of the "Overture" exhibition series, which first took place in November 2014, this presentation features works recently acquired by Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu that have not previously been exhibited at Borusan Contemporary. The exhibition "Overture: New Works from Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu" demonstrates Borusan's recent acquisition approach based on geographic, aesthetic, and genre-based perspectives. "Overture" presents a diverse range of works spanning from digitized landscapes and newly commissioned videos by artists such as Angela Bulloch, U-ram Choe, Chris Doyle, Kurt Hentschläger, Ali Kazma, Rachel Rossin, Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau to virtual reality videos and interactive portraits. "Ola Kolehmainen: Sinan Project," curated by Necmi Sönmez, will be presented on the fourth floor of Borusan Contemporary. Featuring works by Ola Kolehmainen, recognized for his abstract practice and regarded as one of the most significant representatives of contemporary international photography, "Sinan Project" addresses cross-cultural dialogue with a contemporary perspective, despite its focus on masterpieces of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture. "Sediment of Days," also curated by Necmi Sönmez, examines the intriguing relationship between contemporary art and time through a selection from Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu. The relationship between art and time is frequently addressed through a distinctly different framework within new media art, often defined as "time-based media." "Sediment of Days," joining the tradition of exhibitions previously organized based on works by authors such as Leylâ Erbil and Tezer Özlü, draws its conceptual framework from the fictional world of the distinguished writer Tomris Uyar.
