PRESS RELEASE—08.10.2024 Hosted by the Bodrum Cinema and Culture Association (BSKD) with the support of the Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism Cinema General Directorate, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Bodrum Municipality, the 12th BOTH – "Bodrum Turkish Films Week and CineBodrum Cinema Sector Summit" brought together leading figures in Turkish cinema. During the festival, steps to be taken for the future of the Turkish cinema sector were discussed.
Biletinial, Turkey's technology-focused event ticketing platform that generates 60 percent of cinema tickets sold in Turkey, was among the sponsors and supporters of the 12th Bodrum Turkish Films Week held this year.
Following the completion of the festival-format week, Biletinial CEO Ulaş Uslu evaluated the work carried out and made a statement on the matter, noting that the company's initiatives in culture, art and cinema will continue in the coming period, saying: "As Turkey's highest-volume ticketing platform, we have expertise in culture, art and particularly cinema. We use this knowledge through our investments and support to back the cinema sector. We aim to increase our ticket sales from 7 million in the first eight months of 2024 to 10 million by year-end and continue working to strengthen our leading position in the entertainment ticketing world through innovations and initiatives. Our target for 2025 is to continue our contribution to the digitalization of the cinema sector, while at the same time leading market growth through AI-supported solutions, new business models and new partnerships."
Uslu: "Our products make operations more efficient"
Noting that Biletinial's creative products in its portfolio make cinema operations faster and more efficient, Uslu provided the following information on the matter; "The innovative products we have developed using Biletinial's own resources take us beyond being an online ticketing platform, enabling us to be a technology company. We operate not only in Turkey but also in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We have a business model with no equivalent in the world. With our AI-supported software, we can meet all the services cinema theaters need on our own. We enable the digital transformation of the institutions and organizations we work with entirely through the software we provide at no cost. This makes us unique. For example, with the software we have prepared for the cinema sector, we enable control of everything from box office to turnstile management, food and beverage services to loyalty programs, and increase efficiency through digital screen integrations and APIs. With our centralized reporting, accounting solutions, cross-selling and campaign management systems, we enable operators to control every stage. Biletinial Partner, which we offer to the cinema sector, provides the ability to track elements such as sales, capacity and market share in real time, while enabling easy access to all data needed to make cinema operations efficient with a single click. The application, which presents customer segmentation, market analyses, customer reviews and ratings and film reviews on the same platform, was designed to meet all the sector's requirements."
New products in the pipeline for healthy sector growth
Noting that they are in the process of developing a new service for the cinema sector, Uslu said, "We are working on a 'Rental and Media Sales Module' for the daily or hourly rental of cinema halls. This module aims to facilitate the rental of halls for special events. Through this we can contribute to operations with new revenue models. We aim to launch the first version of this module in the first quarter of 2025. By the end of 2024, we will also introduce users to an entirely new digital cinema platform featuring reviews by cinema editors expert in the field. Our members will be able to follow films in release, obtain information about upcoming programs and review editors' selections," he said.
