Akbank Jazz 30th Anniversary Concerts: Kari Ikonen Trio

  As part of Akbank Jazz 30th Anniversary Concerts, Akbank Sanat is hosting Finnish trio Kari Ikonen Trio, active since 2012. The group has gained international recognition with the albums "Bright" and "Beauteous Tales and Offbeat Stories" released by German label Ozella, and has performed numerous concerts at various festivals and clubs across Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA. The trio's third album "Wind, Frost & Radiation" was released in May 2018. In addition to this trio, pianist, Moog player and composer Kari Ikonen continues his career as a solo artist, with other groups such as Orchestra Nazionale della Luna, Quartet Ajaton and Trio Toffa, as well as through projects with Louis Sclavis, Bob Moses, Tom Arthurs, Ingrid Jensen, Tony Malaby, Jeff Denson, Vincent Courtois and Juhani Aaltonen. Ikonen has won numerous international awards for his compositions and was honored with the Yrjö Award in the "Finnish Jazz Musician of the Year" category in 2013.
