The 13th TAYK – Eker Olympos Regatta, organized jointly by Türkiye Açıkdeniz Yarış Kulübü (TAYK), Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu and Eker Süt Ürünleri, will take place in Istanbul between 8-17 August 2025. Setting out with the motto "Catch the Wind", the event will once again offer sailing enthusiasts an unforgettable sailing festival on the blue waters of the Marmara Sea.
More than just a sailing race, the 13th TAYK – Eker Olympos Regatta is a major maritime festival that reflects passion, courage and team spirit. The event will feature competition across 5 separate categories: J70, J70 Match Race, IOM (International One Metre), Optimist Classes and Yacht Class.
Key stages
The race calendar for the TAYK – Eker Olympos Regatta, which has become the largest sailing festival with a more comprehensive program over the past two years, has been announced. Key stages in the event include high-intensity J70 races to be held on 8-9-10 August off Kalamış, followed by J70 Match Race format competitions on 12-13 August. On 10 August, IOM class races—combining technology with sport—will draw attention, hosted by Marmara Yelken Kulübü.
Young sailors will impress with their courage
The Optimist Classes, where young sailors will take centre stage, will be held between 12-14 August. These races, where young athletes will compete with determination, will provide some of the festival's most colourful and inspiring moments.
Grand Bosphorus Race
The Yacht Races, which will start in the festival's second week, will escalate excitement with a night offshore race beginning on the evening of 15 August on the Çınarcık route. Following inshore races on buoy courses on 16 August, the largest sailing festival will conclude with the grand Bosphorus Race in the Istanbul Bosphorus on 17 August.
Live broadcasts will provide a different experience
The live broadcasts, which attracted considerable interest last year, will once again offer viewers a different experience with advanced 3D modelling and graphics support this year. Prepared by the team that worked on the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the broadcasts will enable sports fans to follow the races from different angles with greater depth. The J70 races on 9-10 August and the Bosphorus Race and Awards Ceremony on 17 August in particular will be available to watch live with dynamic commentary and visual richness.
Social events organized throughout the 13th TAYK – Eker Olympos Regatta, such as Italian Day, Turkish Night, Festival Night and Street Food Evening, will complement the competition at sea with enjoyable moments on land.
