The Aegean Exporters' Association (EİB) recorded exports of USD 1 billion 531 million in August. Turkey's exports, meanwhile, fell 1% over the same period to USD 21 billion 794 million.

The Aegean Exporters Union (EİB) achieved USD 1.531 billion in exports in August. Turkey's exports declined by 1% in the same period to USD 21.794 billion.

Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds Hit Record
The Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Union increased its exports by 21% to USD 101 million. It thus became EİB's August "export growth champion."

Water Products Target USD 1.9 Billion
ES&Ühmİb increased its exports by 10% to USD 159 million. The union is making steady progress toward its year-end target of USD 1.9 billion.

The most striking increase occurred in Morocco. Exports reached USD 52.1 million, up 242%.

Eskinazi: "We are moving away from our export targets"
EİB Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi emphasized that Turkey will have difficulty reaching its USD 280 billion export target, stating:

"Our manufacturers and exporters are losing competitive strength due to current disinflation policies. Exchange rates are being held below inflation. If mechanisms to support production and exports are not put in place, bankruptcies will increase and job losses will grow. Let us not forget: production and exports are the key to social prosperity."
