The Aegean Region, Türkiye's second-largest exporting region, increased its exports by 7.3% in June 2025, rising from $3 billion 200 million to $3 billion 434 million.
The Aegean Region, Turkey's second-largest exporting area, increased its June 2025 exports by 7.3 percent to USD 3.434 billion from USD 3.2 billion.
The rise in export figures in June was driven by the fact that the Feast of Sacrifice holiday in 2025 was not declared for 9 days as it was in 2024, as well as parity effects.
According to a written statement from the Aegean Exporters Unions, all provinces in the Aegean Region except Afyonkarahisar managed to increase their exports in June 2025.
Izmir increased exports by 13 percent in June
According to the Ministry of Commerce's Export Statistics by Operating Provinces, Izmir increased its June exports by 13 percent to USD 1.950 billion from USD 1.728 billion, capturing 57 percent of the Aegean Region's exports and continuing to dominate the region's export performance.
Izmir, which achieved USD 12.553 billion in exports during January-June 2024, generated USD 12.143 billion in foreign exchange in the first half of 2025 with a 3 percent export decline.
In June, mineral fuels and mineral oils led Izmir's exports at USD 520 million, while iron and steel exports ranked second at USD 231 million. Boilers and machinery were the third-largest export category at USD 165.5 million.
In June, Izmir's largest exports went to Germany at USD 166.3 million, followed by the Netherlands with USD 143.4 million and Spain with USD 131.7 million.
Manisa continued to follow Izmir
Manisa, which ranked second among Aegean Region provinces with USD 536.7 million in exports in June 2024, increased its June 2025 exports by 2 percent to USD 548.5 million and continued to follow Izmir. Manisa's six-month exports remained flat at USD 3.611 billion.
Denizli's six-month exports rose 6 percent
Denizli increased its June exports from USD 312 million in the previous year to USD 321.4 million in June 2025, a 3 percent increase. Denizli's six-month exports rose 6 percent to USD 2.180 billion from USD 2.058 billion.
Balıkesir exported USD 213 million in June
Balıkesir, which finished 2024 with USD 2.457 billion in exports, achieved USD 213 million in exports during June. Balıkesir increased its June exports by 2.5 percent. Balıkesir's six-month exports declined 1 percent to USD 1.189 billion.
Aydın's six-month exports rose 6.2 percent
Aydın was among the provinces showing a positive export picture in the Aegean Region. Aydın's June exports advanced 9.4 percent to USD 133 million from USD 121.6 million. Over the six-month period, Aydın improved its exports by 6.2 percent to USD 908.5 million.
Muğla became the export growth champion in the Aegean Region
Muğla, Turkey's leader in the aquatic products sector, increased its June exports by 16 percent to USD 109 million from USD 94 million and became the export growth champion in the Aegean Region. Muğla's six-month exports also rose 5.2 percent to USD 646 million from USD 613 million.
Kütahya advancing steadily toward the USD 1 billion export target
Kütahya, which achieved USD 936 million in exports in 2024 and set a USD 1 billion export target for 2025, increased its June exports by 14 percent and achieved USD 81.013 million in exports. Kütahya's six-month exports rose 4 percent to USD 469 million. Kütahya showed signs of reaching its USD 1 billion export target.
Afyonkarahisar's exports faced a setback
Afyonkarahisar, which had increased its exports by 28.6 percent to USD 508 million from USD 395 million during the first half of 2025, faced a setback in June exports. While Afyonkarahisar achieved USD 46 million in exports during June 2025, it fell far short of its USD 96 million in exports during June 2024.
Uşak repeated its June 2024 export performance
Uşak, the capital of recycling, repeated the USD 31.7 million in exports it achieved in June 2024 during June 2025. While Uşak exported USD 211 million in the first half of 2024, it suffered a 7 percent decline in the same period of 2025 and achieved USD 195.5 million in exports.
No growth in the Aegean Region's six-month exports
The Aegean Region, which achieved USD 21.851 billion in exports in the first half of 2025, fell USD 99 million short of its USD 21.950 billion in exports during January-June 2024.
Eskinazi: "I congratulate all our exporters who contributed to exports in this economic climate"
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of the Aegean Exporters Unions, evaluating the performance of exporters in the Aegean Region during the first half of 2025, said he congratulated all exporters who contributed to exports in this economic environment.
Sharing that inflation in Turkey reached 45 percent in 2024 while the increase in exchange rates remained at 20 percent, Eskinazi stated, "In the first half of 2025, the dollar exchange rate trailed the six-month inflation figure by 4 points. Under these conditions, Aegean exporters managed to maintain their position. With the motto 'Our business is production, our strength is exports,' we continue our efforts to contribute to Turkey's prosperity and growth at the cost of erosion of our capital."
