Panacol Launches New Optical-Grade Adhesives
Panacol announced the launch of new optical-grade resins and adhesives for print and optical bonding applications. These new adhesives can be used in the automotive industry for carpets and smart/wearable device sensors, as well as in projectors and flight-time sensing applications to create structured light.
Panacol adhesives are specially formulated for imprint replication of refractive lenses and diffractive optical elements (DOEs). These adhesives are suitable for micro and nano-imprint lithography, wafer-level optics and wafer bonding.
The newly introduced Vitralit® UC 1632 and Vitralit® UC 1658 adhesives are in the 100 to 200 mPas viscosity range and can therefore be easily applied through puddle dispensing, spin coating or spraying.
They provide superior adhesion to commonly used glass plates and new polymer substrates including optical-grade PET or PC. After the adhesives are applied and pressed, they are rapidly cured with UV light to create a precise and durable structure on the wafer. Both adhesives are specifically designed to meet high optical reliability requirements such as low yellowing, temperature stability and shape retention.
Panacol also offers Vitralit® BL UC 1103, a UV-curable black adhesive for black shading and masking purposes. This black epoxy adhesive is transparent to UV light in its uncured state. After hardening, it is opaque and blocks light.
For optical bonding and alignment, Panacol has developed UV-curable Vitralit® 7311, Vitralit® VBB-60 and Vitralit® 1860 adhesives as well as heat-curable Structalit® 5531 and Structalit® 5511 adhesives. These adhesives have high adhesion properties to glass and commonly used plastic substrates. Vitralit® UD 8057 adhesive is formulated for dual curing using UV/visible light and atmospheric moisture. This allows the adhesive to cure in shadowed areas unreachable by UV/visible light by using moisture.
These adhesives used for optical bonding are easily cured with Hönle's high-intensity LED curing systems whose wavelengths best match Panacol photoinitiators. After curing, Panacol's optical-grade adhesives are flexible and stress-relieving, thus reducing stress on dissimilar surfaces.
