Beta Kimya Targets 50% Growth for 2021
BETA Kimya A.Ş., a leading company in the Turkish chemical sector, continued its growth by accelerating investments despite the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the entire world in 2020. In July, BETA Kimya A.Ş. laid the foundations for the largest adhesive and glue production facility in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, achieving significant success with 35% growth under new normal conditions.
Increasing R&D investments by 12% compared to the previous year and continuing to expand its product range under the Apel and Mitreapel brands, BETA Kimya A.Ş. brought 20 new products developed entirely with domestic know-how to the sector in 2020. The company, which added 10 countries to its extensive export network spanning five continents worldwide and increased the number of countries it exports to 75, is targeting 50% growth in 2021.
BETA Kimya A.Ş., among Turkey's most established and innovative companies, continues to produce high value-added products through new investments that add value to the sector. In 2020, despite the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company did not interrupt production and managed to sustain its growth in both the domestic market and exports through the strength gained from R&D and innovation. Preparing to bring the new integrated production facility BETA Kimya GEBKİM Campus, with an investment value of TRY 315 million, into operation in September 2021, the company will take steps toward 5 new product categories addressing strategic sectors.
Cihat Sayacı: "Production and growth are in BETA Kimya's DNA"
BETA Kimya A.Ş. General Manager Cihat Sayacı, noting that they reached their 2020 targets despite all the difficulties brought on by pandemic conditions, stated: "When we started 2020, our agenda included our new integrated production facility investment, our R&D projects, innovative products addressing different sectors, and of course new market targets to be added to our export network. However, we faced the Covid-19 pandemic, which emerged unexpectedly and threatened human lives, the economy, and commerce simultaneously. But as we have done for 34 years, we continued to produce for Turkey. We did not give in to pessimism and adapted quickly to new normal conditions. Of course, human life became our first priority, and by protecting our employees' health, we moved all our office work disciplines to hybrid and digital platforms. In this way, we kept things running by implementing a rotating work model even in production. Because production, rapid adaptation to change, and immediate response to our people's needs are in our DNA. We focused on the production of export orders we received during March, April, and May, which were at the beginning of the process. We reached new markets through virtual fair participations. Thus, we achieved the success of adding 10 more countries to the countries we export to, exporting to a total of 75 countries across 5 continents. By the end of 2020, we managed to increase the share of our export revenues in our total turnover to 60%."Sayacı: "We introduced 20 new-generation products during the pandemic period"
Sayacı, noting that thanks to their R&D and innovation-focused corporate culture, they entered the disinfectant category in just one month at the beginning of the pandemic process, stated: "As BETA Kimya A.Ş., we started work on antibacterial disinfectant products with our R&D team composed entirely of Turkish engineers. Within a very short period of one month, we transferred our experience in the technical aerosol category to disinfectants in order to contribute to human life. We quickly brought our Mitreapel Hunter Antibacterial Disinfectant products to market in spray and liquid forms. We not only delivered our disinfectant products within Turkey but also to many countries in exports. This success also proves how proactive and know-how-rich a company we are. In 2020, we reached more than 150 products in 9 categories in total. During the year, we developed 20 new products addressing many sectors such as construction, furniture, healthcare, automotive, and textiles. Thus, we further expanded our reach with our Apel and Mitreapel brands."50% growth expected in 2021
BETA Kimya A.Ş. General Manager Cihat Sayacı, stating that they achieved 35% growth in 2020 and are targeting 50% growth in 2021 with the new investments coming online, said: "The BETA Kimya GEBKİM Campus, whose foundation we laid with a TRY 315 million investment and which will start operations in the last quarter of 2021, is an extremely important investment for our company's future. This investment, which will serve a key function for our global targets and future growth plans, represents a turning point for BETA Kimya. With our new integrated production facility, which will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons, we will provide job opportunities for 500 people and take steps toward 5 new product categories with high added value. Our production campus, with LEED certification and eco-friendly green building technology, will be built on a total of 50,000 m² with a closed area of 35,000 m², and will be one of the most modern chemical facilities not only in our country but also in the nearby region as an enormous integrated production facility. Fully compatible with digital transformation in industry, equipped with high technology and with modern production infrastructure, BETA Kimya GEBKİM Campus will be a production base ready for Industry 5.0. With BETA Kimya GEBKİM Campus, including the production of Polyurethane Reactive Hotmelt adhesives, which we started producing domestically and nationally for the first time in Turkey, we will also take steps toward new-generation products targeting fields of strategic importance to our country such as automotive, defense, and aviation. In line with these goals, we will also expand our R&D center together with our new facility. With our high value-added production vision, we will carry BETA Kimya into the future and add value to the Turkish chemical sector and our country's industry."Aykut Engin: "We will present our products addressing end users through e-commerce and building material retail channels"
BETA Kimya A.Ş. Marketing and Business Development Manager Aykut Engin, noting that the Covid-19 pandemic directly affected consumption habits, marketing and sales trends along with daily life, said: "In the Turkish chemical sector, we are among the companies with the widest product range. With our Apel and Mitreapel brands, we offer new-generation products for many sectors from construction to furniture, from automotive to defense. Since we are an R&D and innovation-focused company, we have a dynamic corporate culture that rapidly meets consumer expectations. Our Mitreapel Hunter Antibacterial Disinfectant product, which we developed early in the pandemic process, is the best example of this. We developed our product within a very short period of one month and, after receiving approval from the Ministry of Health, quickly made it available to consumers. We transferred our accumulated knowledge in the technical aerosols field to the healthcare sector through the disinfectant category. In 2021, by obtaining separate approvals for each country's health procedures, we will export our disinfectant products to all corners of the world. Following B2B products, we recently turned to products targeting end users as well as sector professionals, namely B2C. We reach end users with adhesives, silicones, multipurpose sprays, and many other smart products that we classify as "do-it-yourself" and that everyone can use from household applications to personal hobby workshops. We will soon enter e-commerce and building material retail channels and bring our products targeting end users to meet our consumers at retail points."Advertisement
