Arkema to Acquire PMP
Arkema Strengthens Engineering Adhesives with PMP Acquisition in China
Arkema is expanding its engineering adhesives offering by planning to acquire Shanghai Zhiguan Polymer Materials (PMP), which specializes in hot-melt adhesives for the consumer electronics market. This move aligns with Bostik's strategy to establish a strong position in the attractive engineering adhesives market and accelerate growth in the rapidly expanding electronics sector, particularly in Asia.
Arkema announces the planned acquisition of PMP (Shanghai Zhiguan Polymer Materials), a Chinese company specializing in reactive hot-melt polyurethane (HMPUR) adhesives with annual sales exceeding EUR 1 million.
These adhesives are primarily designed for the consumer electronics market and are used in bonding mobile phones, tablets, laptops and connected devices.
Through its expertise in formulating innovative solutions and recognized knowledge in processes and R&D, PMP has developed solid positions in the demanding and high-value consumer electronics market. With this acquisition, Bostik will strengthen its technology portfolio in engineering adhesives, an area where the Group already possesses strong expertise in cyanoacrylate, MMA and UV technologies and which has been developed through acquisitions including Afinitica, Nitta and AEC Polymers.
Thanks to strong technological and commercial complementarities, this rapid acquisition presents numerous development synergies and will significantly accelerate Bostik's expansion in Asia's rapidly growing consumer electronics market.
Completion of this transaction is planned for Q1 2022.
