3M's Global Bonding Process Centers Expand 3M (NYSE:MMM) Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division is developing Bonding Process Centers in St. Paul, USA; Neuss, Germany; and Shanghai, China. Against the backdrop of growing automation trends in manufacturing, 3M Bonding Process Centers provide a starting point for designing and planning automated bonding solutions. 3M Bonding Process Centers are designed to help identify customized process solutions for complex bonding challenges and now enable customers to access the centers virtually for consultations and live demonstrations. Previously known as the Global Adhesive Solutions Laboratory, 3M Bonding Process Centers facilitate partnerships that connect customers with local 3M experts to solve problems and optimize processes. To mark this development, 3M engineers and specialists are offering virtual consultations with customers and prospective customers from 3M Bonding Process Centers at all three locations. These sessions highlight how the company's expanding capabilities can be applied to drive positive business results for manufacturing and assembly operations. Global Business Development Director Taylor Harper said "We are pleased to share more about our state-of-the-art Bonding Process Center offerings at three locations worldwide. These facilities are focused on helping our customers solve their most critical challenges," and added "At 3M, we continue to build our global automation and data science expertise as part of our commitment to supporting our customers at every stage of their automation journeys. Our technologies, our accumulated knowledge and our highly customized solutions enable manufacturers to realize business benefits ranging from higher productivity levels to significant reductions in cost per unit. We eagerly look forward to supporting our customers as they explore integrating increasing amounts of automation into their manufacturing processes to help them achieve their overall objectives." Key benefits of automation include productivity, quality, safety and reductions in unit cost and improvements in labor dependence. The global industrial control and factory automation market size is expected to grow from USD 133.1 billion in 2021 to USD 197.8 billion by 2026.1 "Whether customers want to test the latest innovations in dispensing and automation, or are looking for a better tape or adhesive to bond their parts together, our scientists and engineers will work with them to identify, adapt and design custom solutions to manufacturing challenges," said Harper. The Bonding Process Center enables customers to find the best combination to meet their production needs and business results through an interactive, remote or in-person experience. 3M experts are ready to experiment with different types of tapes and adhesives and a range of dispensing options from electric manual dispensers to fully programmable machines to find the right solution for each customer. Additionally, the centers are experienced with all types of assembly from large surfaces to small gaps and encapsulation, and offer metered single and two-part dispensing, automatic tape dispensing, hot melt technologies and more. "Most problems have multiple solutions, and our BPC experts help customers select the best option for their conditions through one-on-one consultations, opportunities to test various equipment for process development and improvement, and follow-up support that extends beyond the customer's center visit. We look forward to welcoming our customers at all of our Bonding Process Center locations," Harper added. As a USD 32 billion organization, 3M invests 6% of its revenue in research and development, and the Bonding Process Center is an example of how investment in future-focused solutions can contribute to manufacturers' business growth and development. 1Research and Markets, Global Industrial Control & Factory Automation Market by Solution (SCADA, PLC, DCS, MES, Industrial Safety, PAM), Component (Industrial Robots, Industrial 3D Printing, Process Analyzer, Machine Vision, HMI), Industry, Region - Forecast to 2026 (2021) Source
