3M Launches New Medical Adhesive
3M has introduced a new medical adhesive capable of maintaining adhesion on skin for 28 days and designed for use in various health monitors, sensors and long-term medical wearable devices. Before 2022, the standard wear time for stretchable medical adhesives was 14 days.
3M is doubling this standard with its developed adhesive to provide a more patient-centric care model. Longer wear time for devices and monitors can help reduce costs and enable collection of more data.
Chad Reed, Global Business Director of 3M Medical Materials and Technologies, stated: "Our scientists at 3M have developed a technological product and pushed the boundaries of this technology without compromising skin health. Wearable medical products are a cornerstone for the future of healthcare, and we are committed to unlocking this potential with our premier materials science."
The newly developed adhesive 3M™ Medical Tape 4578 also provides device manufacturers with greater design flexibility through its liner-free stability feature, which can be stored for up to one year. 3M stands out with more than 55 years of skin adhesion experience and is expanding its medical adhesive product range with the 3M Medical Tape 4578.
