"Our sustainable future journey continues"
Commenting on the matter, Akçansa General Manager Vecih Yılmaz said: "We continue to work for our country's sustainable future through our integrated production system, efficient operational network and focus on operational optimization. Despite poor weather conditions and a sluggish market environment that led to declines in cement and ready-mix concrete volumes, the reduction in energy costs and our disciplined financial management approach partially offset the volume decline in a challenging pricing environment.
While inflationary cost pressures created challenges, effective asset management and operational impacts such as reduced discount expenses supported Akçansa's overall financial performance and contributed to maintaining the company's strong balance sheet structure. We expect this situation affecting our results on the financial and operational performance side to enter a gradual normalization process in the upcoming period.
Noting that they continue their operations with the vision of being Turkey's most valuable stakeholder sustainable building materials company, Yılmaz said: "By voluntarily participating in the CDP carbon transparency platform since 2011, we achieved an important success by maintaining our score at A- (Leadership) level in the 2024 Climate Change Programme. Additionally, both our Büyükçekmece Plant and Gebze Ready-Mix Concrete Facility renewed their Responsible Resource Use Certificates at the gold level, once again demonstrating that we use resources efficiently and minimize environmental impacts. During this period, we also had the pleasure of winning an important award in the field of gender equality. With our GenÇİZ Long-Term Women Internship Program, we were awarded the 'International Women-Friendly Brands 2025 Awareness Award' in the 'Women's Employment and Equal Opportunity in the Workplace' category. We will continue our sustainable future journey," he said.
