Vibram & bluesign® Announce Partnership
Vibram, a global manufacturer of high-performance rubber soles, and bluesign®, a Swiss material validation solutions company, announced that Vibram is now a bluesign system partner.
The collaboration between Vibram and bluesign® began two years ago when the companies worked together to analyze the sector's fundamental chemical requirements, from internal operations to raw material use, and to gather information from suppliers identifying harmful substances commonly used in shoe production.
For this purpose, Vibram and bluesign worked with their chemical suppliers to develop strategies to reduce or replace the use of harmful compounds in shoe components.
Now they have decided to work together to analyze and certify the inputs in Vibram's Component Shoe, an adhesive-free shoe design that includes Ecostep Recycle, made from 30% recycled Vibram rubber, and Ecostep Natural formulations, made from 90% natural, non-synthetic components.
Daniel Rüfenacht, CEO of bluesign, stated: "Our mission is to reduce environmental impact by providing expertise in chemical management and providing critical information to make necessary changes."
