Transformative Change in the Textile and Leather Sectors
Transformational Change in Textile and Leather Sectors
SCTI and Together For Sustainability (TfS) are collaborating to drive transformational change for the textile and leather industries. Sustainable Chemistry for the Textile Industry (SCTI™) and Together For Sustainability (TfS) are joining forces to support and accelerate the sustainability journey of the leather and textile industries through sustainable chemistry. Together, they will collaborate to promote convergence in standards and methodologies and inspire the sector toward a better future.
SCTI is an alliance of leading chemical companies working to empower the textile and leather industries to implement sustainable, state-of-the-art chemical solutions that protect factory workers, local communities, consumers, and the environment.
TfS is a member-driven initiative that elevates Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards in the chemical industry. TfS members are chemical companies committed to making sustainability improvements in their own operations and those of their suppliers.
TfS has also launched a comprehensive program to drive defossilization of chemical value chains, provided standardization tools to enable effective Scope 3 management based on primary data, and launched the TfS Guide to determine Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).
Both TfS and SCTI share the mission of driving transformational change and aim to collaborate on advancing the sector's sustainability goals by leveraging the TfS Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) program.
"SCTI was born from a collective belief that sustainable chemistry plays a decisive role in the textile and leather industries' transition to sustainability. Our new partnership with TfS is an important milestone in this journey.
Thanks to TfS's established programs and tools, SCTI will benefit from some of the best practices and thereby accelerate our sustainability journey. This is the beginning of an exciting collaboration," said SCTI Chief Executive Officer Isabella Tonaco.
Alessandro Pistillo, Co-Chair of TfS GHG Scope 3 Emissions Program, stated, "TfS believes in cross-sector collaboration to deliver sustainable transformation. The textile and leather sector is a key industrial sector that relies on chemical raw materials.
We share SCTI's commitment and are excited to support their efforts in creating Scope 3 transparency and ultimately achieving sustainability goals."
