Textiles: The term refers to the industrial sector that encompasses raw materials used to create fabrics, the methods and processes used with these raw materials to produce materials, and all activities throughout the supply chain.
Textiles can be defined as the art of creating surfaces from all types of fibers using various methods (knitting, weaving, nonwoven surface production methods). Textiles are humanity's second most important need after food.
They hold an indispensable place in every stage of life from birth to death. They are used in numerous fields, from clothing to home textiles, from medicine to space technology. For this reason, textiles constitute a composite scientific discipline directly or indirectly related to all experimental sciences and social sciences. The word textile is derived from the Latin word texus, meaning weave.
Apart from these fabrics created using various techniques, every process performed from the raw materials used through to the final product suited to its field of application is categorized under textiles.
What is a Stabilizer in Textiles?
Due to temperature, ions that harden water, and alkaline environments, hydrogen peroxide undergoes rapid decomposition. This prevents the desired bleaching from occurring. A stabilizer slows down the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. By using stabilizers such as sodium silicate, balanced decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is ensured. Ion fixatives available on the market contain pH buffer substances. If ion fixatives of this type are used instead of stabilizers, sodium silicate may not be necessary.What Are Textile Pre-treatment Processes?
Pre-treatment processes are the collective term for all operations performed at the beginning of textile finishing, as preparation for subsequent finishing processes, and to enhance the appearance of the product, involving the removal of foreign substances from the product.
