Sun Chemical Reaffirms Commitment to Quality and Compliance in Textile Sector with Ink Certifications and ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework Listing
Sun Chemical is strengthening its unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability and compliance in the textile industry through the acquisition of major ink certifications. In recent years, the textile industry has taken significant steps toward removing hazardous chemicals from the supply chain. Sun Chemical actively pursues certifications that provide customers with clarity on ink compliance and chemical management.
OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT Certification
Among these certifications is the OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT, a unique distinction that goes beyond evaluating finished printed products and provides customers with greater assurance in ink use. Sun Chemical has collaborated with TESTEX AG, a Switzerland-based independent testing and certification body approved by OEKO-TEX, to verify a range of inks. Sun Chemical's products, including Xennia® Amethyst Evo®, ElvaJet® Topaz and ElvaJet® Opal, covering a comprehensive range of reactive and sublimation inks, have been granted OEKO-TEX ECO PASSPORT certification. These inks are subject to no restrictions and require no retesting for OEKO-TEX Standard 100 compliance, streamlining the supply chain for customers.ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework
Sun Chemical's inclusion in the ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework (CtZ) further underscores the company's commitment to excellence in chemical management. The CtZ Framework, a ZDHC initiative, aims to promote responsible chemical management in the apparel, footwear, leather and textile industries. Sun Chemical has earned ZDHC Level 3 certifications for a range of products following comprehensive efforts and rigorous testing, gaining the "Leader" designation in the new CtZ framework. Dr. Paul Wallace, Director of Technology and Regulatory Affairs at Sun Chemical, commented on the matter: "Our inclusion in the ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework is a testament to our continuous efforts toward sustainable development and comprehensive chemical management. By obtaining ZDHC Level 3 certification, we reaffirm our commitment to manufacturing inks that comply with the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility."Global Organic Textile Standard
Furthermore, Sun Chemical's commitment to compliance extends to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), with all reactive dyes and most acid dye inks obtaining GOTS certification. This certification guarantees the organic status of finished products printed with Xennia Amethyst Evo and Xennia Amethyst RC inks, providing additional assurance to environmentally conscious customers. Simon Daplyn, Product Marketing Manager at Sun Chemical, commented: "The textile industry is evolving rapidly, and Sun Chemical recognizes that product safety, environmental responsibility and compliance must be prioritized. Sun Chemical maintains a dedicated regulatory and compliance team for digital inks to support customer needs and drive innovation in regulatory compliance, sustainability and the minimization of chemicals that may be harmful to users and the environment."
