Water Consumption Reduced by Up to 80%
Pulcra Chemicals and Inditex are developing Sustineri Coloring, an innovative cotton and polyester/cotton dyeing process that reduces water consumption by up to 80%.
Pulcra Chemicals and Inditex have developed Sustineri Coloring, a combined pretreatment and dyeing process for cotton and polyester/cotton, delivering savings in water, time and energy.
The process emerged as a result of joint research between Pulcra Chemicals and Inditex, aimed at mitigating the impact of standard dyeing processes and reducing the use of natural resources.
Sustineri Coloring is based on newly developed process chemicals and allows cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics in dark, medium and light shades to undergo a single pretreatment and dyeing process by the exhaustion method. This means shorter processing times and lower water and energy consumption.
The process is already being used by selected mills, with Sustineri Coloring observed to reduce processing time by up to 60% and water and energy consumption by 80% and 60% respectively in the pretreatment and dyeing process. State-of-the-art products enable a single process bath, which is significant in conserving resources.
Ümit Yaldız, CEO of Pulcra Chemicals Group, said, "We are proud to work with Inditex, one of the world's largest fashion retailers" and added, "This partnership is an important step toward achieving our goal of bringing environmentally friendly solutions to the global textile market."
