Rudolf Duraner Launches Product Range to Support Textile Companies through Green Deal Compliance Speaking at the 14th International EKOTEKS Symposium titled "Sustainability in the Digitizing Textile World Towards 2030," Salih Gezek, Process Chemicals Manager at Rudolf Duraner, presented information about the company's new product portfolio designed to provide textile sector companies with competitive advantages in meeting Green Deal requirements. The 14th International EKOTEKS Symposium on "Sustainability in the Digitizing Textile World Towards 2030," organized by the Textile and Ecological Test Research Development Center (EKOTEKS) and the Istanbul Ready-to-Wear and Garment Exporters Association (İHKİB), took place at the Istanbul Foreign Trade Complex. At the symposium, discussions focused on the European Green Deal and its short and long-term impacts on the textile sector. Gezek presented Rudolf Duraner's "Cost and Carbon Footprint Calculation Program" alongside practical applications tested in textile dyeing operations.

Reducing Both Costs and Carbon Footprint is Possible

Noting that it is possible to achieve cost advantages and reduce carbon footprint by half through process improvements implemented with innovative chemicals without compromising results achieved through traditional applications, Gezek stated: "Through our specially designed 'Cost and Carbon Footprint Calculation Program,' it is now possible to calculate process costs and carbon emissions within just 5 minutes. The program, to be offered free of charge to all customers, will serve as a guide to the sector in calculating the total process and per-product carbon footprint of improvements made in textile operations. At the same time, it will enable operations to clearly identify areas requiring improvement and concentrate improvement efforts on the right priorities. Since the program allows data entry for numerous parameters in textile operations, accurate calculations aligned with operational realities will be possible for every producer, regardless of how different the energy sources and production lines are," he said. Explaining innovative processes through practical examples, Salih Gezek stated: "Through innovative processes implemented at two different producers: at a textile operation washing 150 tons of dispersed printed PES fabric, carbon emissions were improved by as much as 55%, resulting in 57.6 tons less carbon emissions in one month and 4,800 tons of water savings. At another textile operation dyeing 100 tons of PES-Elastan fabric, carbon emissions were again improved by 58%, resulting in 36.1 tons less carbon emissions in one month and 3,000 tons of water savings," he said. Also highlighting Rudolf Duraner's newly developed product portfolio, Gezek stated: "Our effective products made from bio-based and recycled raw materials are ready for use in operations. We are creating a new product range under the headings BIO-LOGIC (from plant waste and plants) and CYCLE-LOGIC (from plastic waste), and we aim to produce half of Rudolf Duraner's product portfolio from this type of raw material by 2030. I believe both portfolios will support textile operations through the challenging Green Deal process expected for the textile production sector," he added.
