ReCircled and Kaltex Partner on Circular Denim
ReCircled LLC and Kaltex USA announce strategic partnership aimed at creating the Western Hemisphere's first fully vertical and transparent circular denim.
ReCircled LLC operates as a preprocessor for footwear, apparel and accessories, while Kaltex USA ranks among the leading denim companies in North America.
Kaltex, a Mexico-based company with over a century of history, is among the largest fully vertical denim, piece-dyed, apparel and home goods manufacturers in North America.
The company's facilities include mechanical recycling, spinning, dyeing, weaving and cutting/sewing/laundering operations. The presence of its own cogeneration power plant running on natural gas and water treatment facilities reflects Kaltex's commitment to placing sustainability at the core of all its operations. Kaltex holds RCS, ZDHC, Oeko Tex and WRAP certifications.
As part of the partnership, ReCircled will manage Brand Take-Back Programs, work with brands and retailers on unsold products, sort by brand and prepare denims for recycling.
After these products are separated, cleaned and shredded, they will be transported to Kaltex to be recycled back into new denim, completing the loop. This Textile-to-Textile process will enable brands and retailers to create Circular Denim with a system ready for direct use by ReCircled and Kaltex.
ReCircled CEO Scott Kuhlman stated, "From the beginning we knew we needed partnerships to build systems that enable textile products to be recycled at the highest level. We have now turned this into reality with the system we currently have in place."
