Jak Eskinazi re-elected at Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association. At the Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association 2021 ordinary general meeting held at the Aegean Exporters Associations Conference Hall, the slate prepared by incumbent President Jak Eskinazi received approval for the 2022-2026 term with 45 votes.
At the General Meeting, chaired by Orhan Sovuksu with record keeper members Uğur Yılmaz and Mark Sevinti, ETHİB President Jak Eskinazi stated that 2021 saw a record export growth rate of 66 percent, bringing 400 million dollars in foreign currency to Turkey, and that they are targeting 500 million dollars in exports for 2022.
Sustainability and Digitalization as Priority Areas
Eskinazi emphasized that in the coming period they will focus on sustainability and digitalization to reach export targets, saying "We are among the sectors experiencing the fastest transformation and awareness regarding sustainability. We launched a URGE project called 'Developing Sustainable Competition in the Textile Sector' with 18 of our companies participating. It is important that sustainability spreads to the grassroots, and we have applied to the Ministry for a support mechanism such as design assistance on this matter, and this support that will make us one of the leading countries on this issue will significantly contribute to our exporters' competitiveness." Noting that digitalization will be the other area they will focus on, Eskinazi continued: "By benefiting from the advantages of digitalization, we will continue to reach our main markets and new export markets. Between 24-28 May 2021, we conducted a Spain Digital Sectoral Trade delegation for the Spanish market together with the Uludağ Textile Exporters Association and our Aegean Ready-Made Garment and Apparel Exporters Association. Of course, with the pandemic, the shift to e-commerce increased, digitalization was used intensively in production and design processes, and in customer communication, and digital transformation became indispensable for our companies to achieve faster and more flexible production and reduce costs." Eskinazi stated that they will continue promotional activities to encourage successful young people taking university entrance exams to choose Textile Engineering, and emphasized that cooperation with all relevant exporter associations on this matter will continue. Eskinazi stated that they completed the URGE Project on Increasing Export Potential in the Technical Textiles Sector that they launched in previous years for higher-value-added production and exports, saying "We will continue joint work with our Technical Textiles Research and Application Center, TEKSMER, which we established for this purpose. We held the launch of TEKSMER at our Association on 31 March 2022 and it had strong participation from our sector. With the establishment of TEKSMER, the activities that started were promoted and the products they developed were presented. TEKSMER will work more effectively in the upcoming period."Who is Jak Eskinazi?
