Turkey Targets $1 Billion in Ready-to-Wear Exports to France: Turkish Firms Head to Paris

Turkey's apparel sector is preparing for a strong presence at Premiere Vision Manufacturing Paris Fair to maintain and expand its market share in France, one of Europe's largest and most strategic markets.

With approximately 200 fabric, apparel, leather and accessories manufacturers, Turkey ranks among the countries with the highest participation in the fair. The Aegean Apparel and Clothing Exporters Association (EHKİB) will organize the national participation for the 20th time at the fair, which will be held between 3–5 February 2026.

Target: USD 1 Billion in Exports to France
Burak Sertbaş, President of the Aegean Apparel and Clothing Exporters Association, made the following assessment regarding Turkey's apparel exports to France:

"Turkey's apparel exports to France in 2025 totaled USD 895 million, a decline of 8 percent compared to the previous year. Our medium-term target is to exceed USD 1 billion. France ranks as Turkey's 5th largest apparel export market overall, and 8th for our association. We are participating in Premiere Vision Manufacturing Paris Fair with 22 companies. Ten of our participating firms are from İzmir, 11 from Istanbul, and 1 from Antalya."

France, World's 3rd Largest Apparel Importer
Çağlar Bağcı, Vice President of EHKİB, emphasized that the national participation at the fair provides motivation to the sector and shared the following information:

"Our national participation with 22 companies clearly demonstrates the Turkish apparel sector's importance attached to the France market. In 2025, France implemented USD 30 billion in apparel imports. It ranks as the world's 3rd largest apparel importer, after the United States and Germany. Turkey is France's 4th largest apparel supplier, after China, Bangladesh and Italy."

Competition Intensifying, Market Proximity Becomes Key
Seray Seyfeli, Vice President of EHKİB, drew attention to global competitive conditions and stated:

"Turkish apparel manufacturers face competition challenges in recent times due to diminishing cost advantages. Our competitors following us closely in the France market are India, Vietnam and Tunisia. By regularly participating in the industry's most important fairs like Premiere Vision Paris, we aim to both protect and expand our market share. Our companies will present their Spring–Summer 2027 collections over three days to buyers from different countries around the world."

Intensive Export Market Program in 2026
Tala Uğuz, EHKİB Board Member and Head of the Export Markets Committee, provided the following information regarding the association's export market activities:

"Our association has regularly participated twice a year in Premiere Vision Paris Fair since 2015. This fair represents EHKİB's largest export market activity. On average, 50 of our companies participate in the fair annually through our association. Within the scope of 2026 export market activities, we plan to organize 6 national participation fairs in three countries and 1 sector trade delegation."

Strong Global Participation
Approximately 1,000 manufacturers from 40 countries will participate in Premiere Vision Manufacturing Paris Fair this year. The September 2025 edition of the fair was visited by 20,000 professional visitors.
