EGSD and EİB to Cooperate for İzmir and the Sector

The Aegean Garment Manufacturers Association (EGSD) and Aegean Exporters Unions (EİB) will further develop project and cooperation opportunities in the textile and ready-made garment sector, notably by increasing trade fair participation.

EGSD Board Chairman Yasin Akçakaya, Vice Chairmen Okay Şimşek and Zeynep Tecellioğlu San, Board Member Mehmet Tahir Özdemir, along with EİB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi and EİB Ready-Made Garment and Confection Exporters Union President Burak Sertbaş were visited.

Joint action on trade fairs
During the visit, where recent developments in the ready-made garment and textile sector were discussed, the idea of EİB and EGSD increasing cooperation opportunities and participating together more frequently in joint projects was adopted. A decision was made to work jointly to increase domestic and international participation in the IF Wedding Fashion İzmir Bridal, Groom and Evening Wear Fair and Fashion Prime and Fashion Tech İzmir Fairs organized by EGSD, while also agreeing to act together at international fairs.

Contributing more to the sector and İzmir through joint projects
Speaking at the visit, EGSD Board Chairman Yasin Akçakaya pointed out that leading companies that are members of Aegean Exporters Unions are also members of their association, stating that they work together on many fronts with EİB. Noting that EİB has always supported the association's activities until now and that they aim to increase cooperation opportunities through this visit, Akçakaya said: "As EGSD, we participate in the organization of many successful fairs in İzmir. The success of fairs contributes not only to advancing the sector further but also to the city's development. With this objective, we will work more closely with EİB going forward to increase the participation of more companies and visitors at our sector fairs. We also want to implement joint projects related to our sector together with EİB. We received substantial support from EİB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi on this matter today. We want to take this support further and make greater contributions to our sector and our city."

Eskinazi: "Through cooperation, we will create synergy"
EİB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi stated that he feels greatly honored to have been a member of EGSD since its establishment, and that they are always ready to work more closely for the sector and İzmir. Emphasizing that while they have worked closely with EGSD until now, he believes that creating joint projects through this visit is extremely necessary, Eskinazi said: "We will work together for the success of the fairs. We will combine our strengths. At the same time, we can create synergy by cooperating in many areas. In the coming days, we plan to brainstorm as two institutions to develop new projects. I believe very good projects will emerge from the cooperation of these two institutions."

Sertbaş: "We must work together"
Aegean Ready-Made Garment and Confection Exporters Union President Burak Sertbaş drew attention to the great importance they place on fair organizations, stating: "The recent US fair we attended in line with our exporters' search for new markets was successful for our sector representatives participating. We have once again observed the importance of domestic and international fairs. Inviting new buyers to fairs in our city is also very important in this regard. We must all work together on this matter."
Following the visit, EGSD Chairman Yasin Akçakaya presented olive saplings and Aegean Forest Foundation tree donation certificates as gifts to EİB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi and EİB Ready-Made Garment and Confection Exporters Union President Burak Sertbaş in commemoration of the day.
