ARTA Invests in Solar Power Plant and Water Conservation ARTA Tekstil, which supplies high-quality woven and knitted fabrics to world-leading ready-made clothing manufacturers with a sustainable production approach, is leading its sector in environmentally conscious manufacturing through a USD 9 million Solar Power Plant investment and approximately EUR 500,000 in water conservation investments. ARTA Tekstil consumes water below industry average thanks to its treatment and recycling systems and aims to meet its electricity needs from renewable solar energy with the Solar Power Plant it plans to complete in August. For 35 years, ARTA Tekstil has been manufacturing with environmental responsibility awareness to transfer a clean and healthy environment to future generations and ensure sustainability. With approximately EUR 500,000 invested so far for water conservation, the company uses water spent in production at maximum efficiency. The firm, which has installed a USD 9 million Solar Power Plant on 110,000 square meters in Yerköy district of Yozgat, planned for completion in August 2023, aims to continue contributing to nature by meeting its electricity needs from renewable solar energy.

Water conservation investments to continue to protect the environment

Continuing its investments within the framework of sustainable production understanding, ARTA Tekstil is able to reuse 9% of current water consumption through its improvement works, while aiming to increase this ratio to 15% through future projects. To date, the company has implemented approximately EUR 500,000 in investments: EUR 200,000 for machine overhauls, EUR 200,000 for heat recovery systems to reclaim water, EUR 50,000 for installation of electronic meters, EUR 20,000 for control and replacement of faulty valves, and EUR 5,000 for water line extension from Caustic Soda Recovery to 10K Pluvia washing line. With investments planned for 2023, the company aims to reduce per-kilogram water consumption to below 55 liters. Arif Nalbant, Founder Partner of ARTA Tekstil, speaking about their goal to protect the environment through conscious water consumption: "Every day, clean water sources in the world are depleting. As the textile sector, we are one of the sectors consuming the most water, so we need to take more precautions. It is possible to reduce per-kilogram water consumption through recovery systems that will be installed to achieve maximum efficiency from the water used. As ARTA Tekstil, while monitoring our current water consumption on one hand, we follow innovative approaches globally on the other hand and try to adapt our systems accordingly. Although the sector average is 75 liters per kilogram of fabric, we currently use around 55 liters, but we aim to reduce this further. For instance, we have many planned savings projects for this year. Among these are: water circulation project for sanforizing machines (95% of water used will be recovered), water circulation project for rotary printing lines (Water will be used 3 times, achieving 66% savings), screen and squeegee washing systems (30% savings will be achieved), improvement work regarding water consumption in the pad-steam machine (15% savings will be achieved), and use of wastewater instead of clean water in the bio-boiler stack (As a result, 8% of the factory's water consumption will be recovered)" he said.

Will reduce carbon footprint for a habitable world

ARTA Tekstil plans to meet the electricity needs of its factory in Çorlu Velimeşe Organized Industrial Zone through renewable solar energy with a Solar Power Plant installed on 110,000 square meters in Yerköy district of Yozgat with an approximately USD 9 million investment. The facility is expected to generate over 16 million kWh of clean energy annually and is planned to be completed and operational in August. Nalbant, noting that the power plant will make an important contribution to sustainability efforts, stated: "Until now, we have provided 40% of our thermal energy from renewable biomass. With the commissioning of our power plant, we will meet 100% of our electricity consumption from zero-carbon emission renewable solar energy. An important step in minimizing our environmental impact, our energy power plant will generate over 16 million kWh of clean energy annually to meet all of our factory's electricity needs. While contributing to reducing our country's energy dependence on imports, we will use domestic panels in our power plant and also feed the excess electricity produced during summer months into the grid." he said.

Among the first companies in Turkey to receive "Care for Water" certification
