ARTA Tekstil is collaborating with educational institutions in the production zone to develop qualified workforce needed by the ready-made clothing industry today and in the future, and to enhance the quality of vocational and technical education. Referencing collaboration with Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, İŞKUR and the Ministry of Labour on numerous projects, ARTA Tekstil Founding Partner Arif Nalbant stated, "Within the scope of our training programs, we provided internship opportunities to 17 people at our company in 2023, and provided employment to 52 course participants and 3 integrated program graduates." ARTA Tekstil, which supplies high-quality products to leading ready-made clothing manufacturers worldwide, collaborates with Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, İŞKUR and the Ministry of Labour on numerous projects to develop qualified workforce with the technical knowledge and skills required by the ready-made clothing industry and to contribute to improving the quality of vocational and technical education. Within the scope of implemented projects, numerous vocational and technical high school students and university students receive training while also gaining career opportunities at ARTA Tekstil.
University-industry collaboration
ARTA Tekstil, which places great emphasis on the role of scientific methods and practices in business success in university-industry collaboration, implements regular internship programs for university students each year within the framework of a cooperation protocol signed with Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. Under the protocol, ARTA Tekstil regularly accepts students through summer internship and long-term internship programs, and has also hosted more than 150 students at its production facilities by organizing 2 factory tours and presentation programs in the past 3 years. Furthermore, ARTA Tekstil continuously participates in career events jointly organized by the university and İŞKUR at the university's main campus to elevate vocational and technical education and increase employment rates.
Apprenticeship Compensation Program activities
ARTA Tekstil, in collaboration with the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Labour, carries out work to reduce the shortage of intermediate-level qualified personnel under the "Apprenticeship Compensation Program," preventing people with high school or higher education from becoming unemployed due to inability to find jobs in their field of study. With the support of companies, the Apprenticeship Compensation Program, launched by the Ministry of Labour in April 2022, trains job seekers through on-the-job training for 6.5 months in positions on Turkey's list of needed occupations. Upon successful completion of practical examinations, participants receive an apprenticeship certificate approved by the Ministry of National Education. We aim to develop personnel with enhanced competencies
ARTA Tekstil Founding Partner Arif Nalbant, noting that the sector faces a need for trained and intermediate-level personnel for the smooth and healthy operation of production, stated that young people today show little interest in the textile sector. Nalbant drew attention to how recession concerns affecting the world are impacting the sector, emphasizing that businesses need to take forward-looking steps for this reason. Nalbant continued his remarks as follows: "With rising inflation worldwide and in Turkey, and the consequent contraction in the textile market, employment is also expected to shrink. As a company, we plan to focus on education and development activities to increase our productivity and quality during this period. In line with the great importance we place on vocational and technical education, we are delighted to implement supporting projects aimed at ensuring the employment of human resources trained in this field. Through our work, we aim to develop candidates with enhanced competencies, full commitment, and potential. In line with this goal, we prioritize establishing close relationships with educational institutions especially in our region and providing mutual support. In this context, we are carrying out various activities and projects with vocational schools and universities in our province. Within the scope of our training program, we provided internship opportunities to 17 people at our company in 2023, and provided employment to 52 course participants and 3 integrated program graduates." Noting that they prioritize women's employment, Nalbant said, "We are carrying out work to increase the proportion of women employees at ARTA Tekstil. Our current average number of women employees is 88, which accounts for approximately 20 percent of our total workforce. In this direction, 6 women employees are in management positions: 1 director, 2 managers, and 3 supervisors. As ARTA Tekstil, we continue to develop policies that prioritize women's employment while also considering suitability for physical effort and working conditions."
