ARTA Tekstil Focuses on 2023 Targets

With a commitment to sustainable production, ARTA Tekstil supplies high-quality finished woven and knit fabrics to world-leading apparel manufacturers. The company focused on its 2023 targets through a USD 9 million Solar Energy Plant (GES) investment and the addition of a third rotary printing line to its operations. ARTA Tekstil, which supplies high-quality finished woven and knit fabrics to major fashion brands and retail chains in Turkey and Europe within a framework of environmentally and nature-conscious sustainable production, increased both its turnover and exports by 50 percent on a dollar basis in 2022 through its investments.

ARTA Tekstil strengthens existing facilities with new investments

In his assessment of 2022, Nalbant continued as follows: "2022 was a year in which we significantly increased our investments across many fronts. In addition to our existing facilities, we commissioned our knit fabric dyeing and printing units to begin meeting our customers' demands. In this way, we added a daily 30-ton knit fabric dye-printing capacity to our existing daily 150,000-meter woven fabric processing line. Thanks to the 'Flash-Ager' fixation line we commissioned during the year, we brought to market dyed and printed fabrics with the high fastness properties required for military fabrics. We did not only strengthen our production lines; within our sustainability principles, we made a biofuel boiler investment for renewable energy use and succeeded in obtaining 40 percent of our thermal energy from biomass. In line with the needs arising from increased production capacity, we increased our wastewater treatment facility capacity to 4,000 tons daily. Additionally, we commissioned supplementary chemical and biological treatment pools and pumping facilities. We also made technology investments to minimize the environmental impact of our dyehouse and increase energy efficiency by adopting control equipment and specialized software. By creating an Operational Excellence Department, we achieved increased efficiency across all areas and reduced errors. Through this, we reduced our water consumption from an average of 70 liters/kg fabric to 50 liters/kg fabric. We also reduced our specific energy consumption from around 11 kilowatts per kilogram of fabric produced to 7 kilowatts. We continue our efforts to reduce these values, which are below industry average, even further. Through all these investments and marketing efforts we carried out this year, we also achieved a 50 percent increase in our total turnover and export figures on a dollar basis." ARTA Tekstil founder partner Arif Nalbant made the following remarks on the matter:

"The textile sector in Turkey and worldwide continues to grow with each passing day. As ARTA Tekstil, we are taking solid steps through our investments tailored to the sector's needs. In 2023, which marks our company's 35th year, our goal is to surpass the growth rate we achieved this year. To this end, we plan to commission our third rotary printing line in the first half of the year to offer our customers faster and higher-quality products. Additionally, as part of our sustainability-focused investments, we have planned the Solar Energy Plant (GES) to be completed and commissioned by August. With a system we will establish through a USD 9 million investment to pass on a clean and healthy environment to future generations, we will meet all our factory's electricity needs. Through investments in the GES, biofuel boiler, heat recovery systems, and water and energy savings control technologies, we will continue to reduce our environmental impact and carbon footprint. As the first factory in Turkey approved at INDITEX's 'Care For Planet' level—a group encompassing numerous international brands and the largest apparel sector group—we aim to increase our cooperation with this group. It is anticipated that demand in our sector will increase in the second half of 2023, and we are structuring our activities accordingly. In addition, we are continuing our efforts to capitalize on new opportunities arising from demand for military and functional fabrics in addition to fabrics used in apparel. 2023 also holds special significance as it marks the 100th anniversary of our republic, of which we are proud. As the ARTA Tekstil family, we will continue to work and produce with all our strength to make new achievements and somewhat repay our debt to those who established and sustained this republic for us through countless hardships, especially our founder Atatürk."
