New Texon Ecoline Insole Is 100% Recyclable
Shoe manufacturers seeking to increase the amount of recycled material in their footwear without compromising quality now have access to a completely new insole technology. Texon Ecoline has been introduced as a revolutionary material that perfectly combines strength and sustainability.
Based on 85% recycled polyester (rPET), Texon Ecoline is 100% recyclable and up to 32% lighter than similar materials while delivering the same strength and performance as heavier base layers.
Texon Ecoline is produced through a special fusion-bonded process that improves the internal bonding structure of the material's randomly arranged fibers. This production method strengthens the material while maintaining the thin, lightweight qualities required for insole applications.
It is more environmentally friendly, using up to 50% less energy per square meter of material and consuming less water and chemicals.
To further enhance Texon Ecoline's environmental credentials, Texon has integrated the product into its take-back program for solid waste recycling.
This scheme allows any offcuts to be returned to Texon, enabling shoe manufacturers to produce more of the same product. This reduces the amount of material sent to landfill and allows manufacturers to save on waste disposal costs.James Chandler, New Product Development Manager at Texon, provided further explanation, stating: "Texon Ecoline is a groundbreaking product that perfectly meets our zero-waste targets and the needs of our customers, who have told us they want strong, lightweight materials for virgin-base applications, and it is highly sustainable. Earlier this year, we publicly announced our target to become a zero-waste generating company by 2025. As part of this commitment, we are reducing our use of virgin material and developing pioneering new solutions that enable us to take less from the planet and optimize what we have.
Texon Ecoline reflects this approach and demonstrates that it is possible to make high-performance lightweight bases from recycled material without compromising on performance or quality."
Designed for use in cemented and vulcanized constructions, Texon Ecoline is suitable for many types of footwear. The material offers excellent moisture absorption and distribution properties that enhance foot comfort in all conditions. It also has high base adhesion properties with neoprene and PU adhesives.
Texon Ecoline is available in sheet form in a neutral color or can be supplied in net form for better solid waste management. Different dimensions, production methods and processes allow for versatility and a wide range of applications without compromise.
