Valmet Offers Precise Measurement Solutions in Industrial Wastewater Treatment with HS
Valmet has introduced its new high solids content measurement device, Valmet HS. Providing stable and accurate measurement in various industrial processes, including industrial wastewater treatment, cellulose and paper production, Valmet HS can measure moisture in solids content exceeding 30 percent, within a 1-70 percent moisture range.
Originally designed for municipal wastewater treatment facilities, Valmet HS is based on microwave technology. Notable for its patented sensor design, Valmet HS regularly takes samples from the settlement or drop pipe section of the process, and returns the sample to processing after the solids content has been measured.

Cost and Fuel Savings Enhance Sustainability
The new measurement system Valmet HS provides numerous advantages to users. The system helps minimize sludge transport costs in wastewater applications, and increases the sustainability of industrial processes by reducing additional fuel consumption in boilers fed by sludge. Additionally, Valmet HS enables optimization of total solids levels and real-time monitoring of dewatering or drying process performance. Currently used after a high consistency press roller, Valmet HS provides error-free pulp consistency control for the paper machine, making the paper pulp entering the paper machine more stable. Other advantages the system provides for the process include lower press energy consumption, reduced fiber breakage, and prevention of excessively high consistency that can cause damage to processing equipment. Other proven applications of Valmet HS include measurement of sludge solids after paper pulp and paper dewatering processes, measurement of sawdust moisture in the wood processing industry before pelletizing, and monitoring of sludge moisture before burning. Havana adds: "The solution has proven so successful that new applications are constantly emerging.
