SÜT-D 2025 Low Carbon Hero Award Winners Announced

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ), supported by the Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SÜT-D), will bring together the business world, government bodies, local administrations, academia, students, civil society and media at the 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit on 14-15 April 2025 in a Carbon-Neutral Carbon Summit, where SÜT-D will announce the winners of the 2025 Low Carbon Hero Award.

At home, at school, at work, on the road, at sea, in the mountains, in the fields, in the forests—everywhere we all directly and indirectly contribute to our global emergency: climate change. Time is running short. At the 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit, stakeholders will gather under the theme "Sustainable Solutions on the Path to Decarbonization and the Power of the Green Action" to put an end to this course of events.

The path to decarbonization will be examined at the carbon-neutral carbon summit
Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, Teaching Member at ITÜ and Chair of SÜT-D, will open the first and only event of its kind under the theme "Sustainable Solutions on the Path to Decarbonization and the Power of the Green Action," which will be implemented as "Carbon Neutral" with ST Climate support. ITÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal will deliver the opening remarks. In the session titled "Decarbonizing Economy and Green Action," senior executives from our banks on climate finance and carbon management will be at the table, while in the "Turkey's Path to Decarbonization" session we will hear from government officials about today and tomorrow.

In our "Carbon Management and Industry" and "Carbon Management and Energy" sessions, leading organizations from different sectors of the business world will present their carbon management approaches and future visions. We have worked hard. Our program is strong. We are ready to create high value for our delegates by providing knowledge from ITÜ Ayazağa Campus, which ranks as "the World's 38th Most Sustainable in the 2024 UI GreenMetric rankings; 22nd in Europe; and first in our country for eight consecutive years," extending an invitation to it.

SÜT-D Awards
Prof. Karaosmanoğlu, emphasizing that increasing the carbon management capacity of our country is a priority in the activities of SÜT-D, which was founded in September 2013, noted that the SÜT-D Small Carbon Hero Award we present through the Istanbul Carbon Summit for our broad social impact has been awarded. He stated that our SÜT-D Small Carbon Hero Award was honored in 2021 in the Civil Society Event category of the Turkey Construction Materials Manufacturers Association Future Investment Awards—given with the goal of supporting sustainable development—and our Istanbul Carbon Summit was awarded first place in 2023. Our awards are our pride. He said that the applause for Bilfen's Climate Detectives Team's SÜT-D 2025 Small Carbon Hero Award Presentation and the SÜT-D 2025 Low Carbon Hero Award Ceremony will echo at our event.

Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SÜT-D): SÜT-D was founded in 2013 by representatives from the public, business and academia with the aim of creating strong societal impact on sustainable production and consumption, building knowledge and capacity by working to ensure the best energy, water and waste management with resource-efficient use of current best technologies; combating environmental pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss; and raising awareness of sustainable development through human and nature-friendly sustainable living culture.
