Sem Plastik Produces Enough for All Humanity in Its 41st Year

SEM Plastik, distinguished by innovative products and R&D projects, celebrates its 41st year in the industry.

SEM Plastik continues the journey it began 41 years ago in a small workshop, now operating as a global brand producing approximately 8 billion products annually.

With a broad customer portfolio spanning from world-renowned food chains to major airline companies, the company marks its 41st year with 41 reasons for pride.

SEM Plastik's history began when Founder and Honorary Chairman Namık Kemal Eroğlu started producing spare parts for agricultural machinery in a small workshop in Bayrampaşa. In 1985, it began producing plastic components for the telecommunications sector, serving distinguished organizations such as Alcatel, Northern and Termal.   In 1986, it transitioned to the production of single-use food packaging, a sector in which it maintains leadership today. SEM Plastik solidified its leading position in the sector by rapidly growing through 41 years filled with many firsts and success stories. As the pioneer in introducing the Turkish plastics sector to single-use food packaging, SEM Plastik began its journey with single-use cup production and continues with over 500 product varieties including plastic cups, plates, forks, knives, ice cream containers, ayran cups and yogurt containers.

With approximately 8 billion products produced in a year, it can manufacture enough products to supply all of humanity. In addition to its General Headquarters in Istanbul;

SEM Plastik operates at its 20,000-square-metre facility in Silivri and its 8,500-square-metre facility in Malatya. To serve as an example of peace and regional development, it commissioned its production facility in Palestine in 2008. Having become a global brand through innovative and technology-oriented production principles, SEM Plastik is the preferred choice of many companies, from world-renowned food chains to major airline companies. The company, which pioneered sustainable environment and recycling, has received numerous awards both in Turkey and abroad. Noting SEM Plastik's progression from a small workshop in Bayrampaşa to its present status, SEM Plastik General Manager Yavuz Eroğlu stated: "Our first workshop was in one of the industrial courtyards accessed through dark corridors, with walls that looked as though they had been painted with machine oil and stairs damaged by the up-and-down movement of machinery. I would go to the workshop with my father. Of course, at that time I was unaware of the future of this journey my father had started. Like every child, I wanted to grow quickly, watching my father and his work, observing and trying to learn. That is when my passion for plastics began. After working at every level in the small workshop, I took on the responsibility of our Founder Namık Kemal Eroğlu's bold venture. I began by collecting caps from products in our workshop for a long time. Over the years, through determination and effort, working without losing heart in the face of difficulties, we grew SEM Plastik into a world brand. We take pride and joy in celebrating SEM Plastik's 41st year, a company that has always aimed for progress and innovation. In the coming years, we want to raise our success bar even higher and set an example for future generations."
