Sapro, which draws attention to the importance of environmental footprint through sustainability work in the environmental field, conducted a coastal cleanup in Istanbul. In the coastal cleanup event conducted jointly with DenizTemiz Derneği/ TURMEPA, Sapro employees collected waste from the shore, preventing it from mixing into the sea. Wet wipe sector's largest producer in Turkey, Sapro has recently drawn attention with investments and initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. Having made a major investment to produce biodegradable wet wipes, Sapro this time signed an important corporate social responsibility project with its employees. Sapro joined forces with DenizTemiz Derneği/ TURMEPA and conducted a coastal cleanup in the Gümüşyaka district of Istanbul. The event, coordinated by the TURMEPA Volunteer Department team, was attended by 30 Sapro employees. In the two-hour event, 51 kg of plastic, paper, metal and glass waste was collected. The collected waste was subsequently handed over to Silivri Municipality to be incorporated into the recycling system. Speaking about the event, Sapro Quality Assurance & Projects Director and Board Member Barbaros Sert noted that the company's top priority is particularly environmental sustainability. Barbaros Sert, who stated that they place great emphasis on sustainability work, spoke as follows: "As we know it, we live in an age where we directly experience the destruction of nature, and as humans we feel great sorrow about the state the world has been brought to. However, listening to the voice of the IPCC, climate activists and scientists, we must roll up our sleeves as individuals living in this world in order to preserve at least what exists for future generations. Both individually and institutionally we must think about how we can reduce our environmental footprint and take every step we make with this focus in mind. We organized the coastal cleanup event, which we have long been waiting to hold due to the pandemic, in order to draw attention to the importance of the impact on the environment and thus on humans, who are inseparable from it, if waste is dumped into nature. We call on the Turkish public to be sensitive to the effects of waste thrown on land, soil and sea and emphasize the importance of acting accordingly." Barbaros Sert also expressed his thanks to DenizTemiz Derneği/ TURMEPA for taking the lead in this event.
