Plastic Sector Contributes to Circular Economy Ömer Karadeniz, Chairman of the Board of PLASFED (Plastic Manufacturers Federation), stated that the circular economy, which is rapidly developing and affecting the plastic industry both domestically and globally, is progressing at pace: "Plastic recycling has become a driving force in the national industry through its contributions to minimizing environmental impact, ensuring sustainability and securing raw material supply. As long as our sector continues to grow and production persists, our industry will strengthen and reach a level where it can compete internationally."

The Value Plastic Sector Brings to National Economy Cannot Be Overlooked

Emphasizing that the Turkish plastic sector ranks among those contributing most to the national economy, PLASFED Board Chairman Ömer Karadeniz stated: "The contribution our sector provides in the domestic market and exports will continue directly and indirectly in the periods ahead. Our plastic operations have reached an important level by further increasing their strength. The value that the plastic sector brings and will bring to many sectors affecting our industry's development, particularly automotive and white goods sectors, can never be overlooked. Today, the plastic sector continues to produce, work and contribute to industry not only in exports but also in taking steps to invigorate the domestic market." Our Sector Will Continue to Revitalize the Circular Economy Through Recycling

Stating that plastics are continuing to replace traditional materials today, Ömer Karadeniz continued as follows: "Due to their flexibility and ease of processing, plastics today can be used in many different fields. Most plastic types, when compared with alternative materials, contribute to the circular economy through their easy recyclability. Today the importance of the circular economy and recycling associated with it is rapidly increasing. Plastic recycling, with its strong advantages such as minimizing environmental impact, ensuring sustainability and securing raw material supply, continues to revitalize the circular economy in its role as a complement to our sector."

Works Undertaken Should Be Supported

Stating that they support many platforms where sector problems and proposed solutions are discussed and that this support will continue, Ömer Karadeniz said: "As the umbrella organization PLASFED, we monitor developments in the sector closely and continue our work with member associations in particular, as well as many different non-governmental organizations and public institutions to produce solutions to problems. In the coming years, the plastic sector will be one of those that will contribute most to the recycling sector and direct the circular economy. As our sector grows and production continues, our industry will strengthen and reach a level where it can compete internationally. One of the main objectives of our work on Recycling and Circular Economy is precisely this. For these objectives to be realized, our greatest wish is that the joint work we will undertake is supported by our public authorities."
