Competition Launched to Reduce Plastic Use
Dassault Systèmes' industrial customers are already using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to develop new biomaterials that reduce the environmental impact of plastics, smart manufacturing methods, and optimum packaging designs. The Sustainability Challenge competition opens these capabilities to design, engineering, business and communications students.
Students can now leverage these cloud-based digital design, engineering and collaboration applications to accelerate learning, understanding and innovation, and to design a world where plastic is used in the right place in a sustainable way.
Each team participating in the competition will gain access to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to develop a project in one of three areas:
Product Development: Redesigning a product's form using less plastic
Remanufacturing: Converting a single-use product into a reusable product, designing a concept that lasts longer than existing products or is easier to disassemble for repair and recycling
Connection: Building or optimizing a physical and social network to increase repair rates, secondary use and product recycling rates
Projects will be evaluated based on a number of criteria including: creativity; social, environmental and economic impact; implementation and efficiency; and use of 3D technology.
Sustainability Challenge projects can be submitted until 10 February 2020. Winning projects will be announced on 21 February. The team that wins the grand prize will have the opportunity to present its project to an audience of experts at Monaco Ocean Week.
