PAGEV Donates Single-Use Plastic Products

The Ministry of National Education and PAGEV have implemented an important collaboration in the fight against coronavirus. At PAGEV Gebze Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, production of single-use plastic forks, spoons and knives has begun, to be distributed to places where needed, particularly quarantine centers, hospitals and care homes. At PAGEV Gebze MTAL, volunteer teachers will produce approximately one million single-use plastic products per month. The coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the entire world. Hygiene is paramount in combating the outbreak. During this period when social distancing is emphasized, the use of personalized single-use products is gaining importance. To meet the increasing need for single-use products, the Ministry of National Education and PAGEV established a partnership. Under this scope, volunteer teachers at PAGEV Gebze Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School will produce single-use plastic spoons, forks and knives that the country needs. The first phase of the "Let Us Have Our Spoon in the Soup" project began with plastic spoon production. With the participation of Kocaeli Provincial Director of National Education Şeref Yüksel Bölükbaşoğlu and Gebze District Director of National Education Şener Doğan, volunteer teachers at PAGEV MTAL began production of the first single-use plastic products on Monday, 6 April 2020.

Referring to work being carried out throughout Kocaeli in the fight against the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, Kocaeli Provincial Director of National Education Şeref Yüksel Bölükbaşoğlu stated: "At İzmit MTAL, we produced 165 tons of disinfectants and cleaning materials as well as 800 liters of cologne. At our Gölcük-Kandıra-Kartepe and Körfez Public Education Centers, we are producing single-use masks, aprons and stretcher covers. At Gebze Çolakoğlu MTAL, İzmit Zübeyde Hanım MTAL, Gölcük Anadolu Development Foundation MTAL, Gebze Steel Exporters Association Ali Nuri Çolakoğlu MTAL, and Kartepe Fevziye Tezcan MTAL, we have started mask, apron and stretcher cover production. In cooperation with our Governorate's Provincial Pandemic Board, we have distributed the products we produced to the institutions in need, particularly to our health and security personnel. As the final step in combating the virus, we have developed a corporate social responsibility project for the production of single-use plastic spoons at PAGEV Gebze Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and for the free distribution of these products to quarantine areas, hospitals and care facilities."
