PAGEV Takes an Important Step for Recycling

"Plastic has no place in nature, but it has a major place in our lives" – with this slogan, PAGEV launched a recycling campaign across Turkey and took steps to increase the use of recycled raw materials. PAGEV organized its 14th Plastics Industry Congress with a focus on recycling. A protocol was also signed at the Congress between PAGEV Chairman Yavuz Eroğlu and EuPC Managing Director Alexander Dangis regarding PAGEV's participation as Turkey's stakeholder in the MORE (Monitoring Recyclates for Europe) Project for Voluntary Commitments. At the 14th PAGEV Turkish Plastics Industry Congress organized this year by PAGEV, the unifying force of the plastics sector, recycling – the most important formula for environmental protection – took center stage. At the Congress, held under the main theme "Recycling from the Perspective of Climate Change and Zero Waste," expert speakers covered recycling from A to Z. During the Congress, information was provided on new developments in recycling technology, and it was emphasized that interest in recycled plastic is growing every day. It was also noted that plastics and recycling are part of the solution to the global climate crisis. EuPC Managing Director Alexander Dangis, among the speakers, explained the MORE (Monitoring Recyclates for Europe) Project for Voluntary Commitments, under which plastic producers in the European Union aim to increase the use of recycled plastic raw materials in finished products to 10 million tons by 2025.

PAGEV was selected as Turkey's stakeholder in the MORE Project. A protocol to this effect was signed between PAGEV Chairman Yavuz Eroğlu and EuPC Managing Director Alexander Dangis.

PAGEV Chairman Yavuz Eroğlu, noting that the Recycling Registration Platform MORE serves Turkey simultaneously with the EU, said: "As PAGEV, we closely follow all developments and trends related to our sector worldwide. Recycling, one of the most important agenda items of recent years, is gaining increasing importance every day. Our foundation is working to make recycling more discussed and implemented both within the sector and across society. In this direction, we are delighted to be Turkey's stakeholder in the MORE (Monitoring Recyclates for Europe) Project for Voluntary Commitments. Through MORE, we aim to increase the use of recycled raw materials in our country and to keep track of the amount of recycled raw materials used. Additionally, our companies using MORE, which is an international platform, will gain advantages and competitive benefits in exports to many global companies in the EU such as food, detergent and cosmetics firms."
