'Plastic Recycling Committee' Established Through Cooperation of PAGDER and İKMİB
One month ago, PAGDER brought together members of the plastic recycling industry around a strategy workshop in cooperation with İKMİB, and announced that a Plastic Recycling Committee has been established within İKMİB as a result of the workshop.
While it was stated that the committee's activities will also serve the zero waste project, it was noted that a strong plastic recycling industry will be one of the most important and critical stakeholders of the zero waste project.
PAGDER Chairman Selçuk Gülsün, stating that the committee, which he also chairs, will begin operations after the holiday break, continued: "Our most important objective will be to ensure dialogue and coordination among stakeholders of this sector, which offers a broad framework.
Our committee will have participation from a wide range including our members and industry representatives, as well as academics, civil society representatives as stakeholders, representatives from chambers of commerce and industry professional committees, and media representatives." he said.
PAGDER Chairman, noting that the circular economy is the economic model of the future, stated: "We believe that the jargon being presented to the public is outdated, because in the zero waste project there is no concept of 'waste', there is 'recyclable waste'.
If there is something you cannot recycle, you convert it to 'energy' and move forward. The purpose here is for Turkey to become one of the most successful actors in the circular economy, as it is in the final objective of the zero waste project." he concluded.
