High Turnout for Pagder's Cost Management in Plastics Industry Seminar, Which Says "Quality in Education is Essential"
Dr. Robin Kent, who came to Istanbul for the "Cost Management in Plastics Industry Seminar" organized by the Plastics Manufacturers Association (PAGDER) and explained cost reduction methods to plastic manufacturers that could provide solutions to the problems of shrinking markets and declining profitability, was followed with high attendance.
Dr. Robin Kent, one of the world's leading experts in his field, focused on cost management techniques and strategies at the seminar, and presented concrete solution methods for finding and exploring ways to achieve savings, particularly in energy, which is the most important cost item.
PAGDER Board Chairman Reha Gür, in his opening remarks at the seminar, said that education holds an important place among PAGDER's activities that will directly contribute to the sector, and that they are particularly focused on quality education.
Noting that this seminar by Dr. Robin Kent, one of the world's leading experts in his field whose books are used in university education, holds an important place in PAGDER's 2016 spring semester education and seminar programs, Gür stated, "With this seminar from which we can obtain concrete contributions and implement in practice, we are presenting one of the finest examples of quality education to our sector."
Dr. Robin Kent, who came to Istanbul in 2014 with PAGDER (Plastics Manufacturers Association) organization and delivered an "Energy Efficiency in Plastics Industry Seminar" that ensured participants left with concrete, implementable knowledge, was in Istanbul again for another important PAGDER seminar.
Quality education is necessary!
Reha Gür, PAGDER Board Chairman who organized the "Cost Management in Plastics Industry" seminar and brought Dr. Robin Kent, an expert in this field, to Istanbul again, made the following remarks in his opening speech at the seminar held in Istanbul on 21 April 2016:
"Among our activities that will directly contribute to our sector and our manufacturers, education holds quite an important place, and we are focused on quality education; because although much education is provided in our sector, quality education is one of the shortcomings of our sector…
With this seminar of ours, where the secrets of using resources most correctly and efficiently will be explained practically to our sector members, we will present another example of quality education."
The plastics sector is a business operating under very fierce competitive conditions!
Gür, sharing that they structured education and seminar programs after long-term quality-focused work, said, "We place emphasis on concrete, implementable education and seminars. We aim to make the positive contributions we provide by adding the practical dimension especially to certain trainings more effective.
Dr. Robin Kent's seminar also holds an important place in our 2016 education and seminar program. As we experienced in the 2014 seminar, Dr. Robin Kent's new seminar will also be a seminar from which our manufacturers can directly benefit and obtain concrete contributions that we can implement in practice," he said.
Noting that energy efficiency and productivity in general are vital issues in every branch of industry but especially in the plastics industry, Reha Gür said, "We are a business operating under very fierce competitive conditions. Furthermore, we are in a sector that is necessarily dependent on imports for raw materials, and raw material expenses are a very serious cost item.
Even the smallest loss in raw materials cannot be overlooked. I can say that Dr. Kent has prepared a very useful, quality seminar program aimed at saving and increasing efficiency, particularly in energy and raw materials," he said.
Similar collaborations should be conducted despite all kinds of chaos!
Selçuk Aksoy, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB), which supported the seminar as a cooperating organization, stated in his remarks at the seminar that despite the chaotic environment in which the world and Turkey's region finds itself, they are pleased to participate in this seminar that will make important contributions to the plastics sector by collaborating with PAGDER.
Sharing that İKMİB supports every work that will contribute to the development of the sector, Aksoy said that between 25-28 April 2016 in Shanghai, China, they will participate with PAGDER, Turkey's sole authorized representative, at "Chinaplas 2016," Asia's largest and the world's second-largest plastics and rubber fair, and will help Turkish plastics manufacturers make their voices heard to the world.
The secrets of using resources most correctly and efficiently were explained to plastics manufacturers!
In Dr. Robin Kent's seminar titled "Cost Management in Plastics Industry," the real costs of resources in manufacturing processes were determined with the help of models and participants were enabled to understand plastic manufacturing in all aspects; topics covering manufacturing elements from business models to design, from materials to human resources, from factory configuration to waste management were examined in detail.
While İKMİB contributed to PAGDER in the organization of the seminar that Dr. Kent presented with group work and case studies, TSP Makina, Engel Enjeksiyon, Ser Rezistans, Aksoy Plastik, and Şenmak Makine also provided additional support.
