Project to Convert Organic Waste into Electricity
Converting Organic Waste into Electricity Project
Kemal Kükrer supports electricity generation from organic waste produced during manufacturing, contributing to the protection of natural resources and the environment.
This work, carried out in partnership with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, has so far produced an amount of electrical energy equivalent to 1 month's consumption for 874 households.
Kemal Kükrer, with over 107 years of experience in Turkey's flavor history through its vinegars and sauces, stands out not only for its excellence in production but also for its sustainable projects that contribute to the circular economy.
Organic waste generated at Kemal Kükrer's Eskişehir factory is converted into electrical energy at the Eskişehir Municipality's electricity generation facility. Through this, the brand, which contributes to the protection of both natural resources and the environment, has also supported the generation of 1 month's electricity for 874 households from its organic waste.
Sinan Altun, Chairman of Ajinomoto Türkiye Executive Board, explained the significance of the project that Kemal Kükrer, which joined Ajinomoto, one of the world's leading food companies, in 2013, is conducting hand-in-hand with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality: "Kemal Kükrer continues to maintain its pioneering brand position in all areas with the goal of always pursuing the best.
Thanks to this meaningful project that we started in the light of our sustainability efforts and are conducting with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, we have enabled 758 tons of organic waste to be converted into 201 Megawatt of electrical energy so far. Within the scope of our project, where we contribute to energy production entirely through the conversion of waste, we have paved the way for the generation of an amount of electrical energy equivalent to 1 month's consumption for 874 households," he said.
Emphasizing that supporting environmental protection is essential for a sustainable nature, Altun stated that as Ajinomoto Türkiye, they continue their work on many supportive projects.
Value Provided by the Project
To date, with 201 Megawatt of electrical energy produced from organic waste generated at the Kemal Kükrer factory: • Cooking 53,600 delicious meals in an oven, or • Boiling water in electric kettles for 456,818 cups of tea or coffee shared in conversation, or • Preserving food freshness in refrigerators for 190,341 days, or • Operating dishwashers 182,462 times after shared delicious meals, or • Meeting the full 1 month's electricity needs of 874 households.Advertisement
