LyondellBasell Makes Push into Plastic Recycling LyondellBasell announced today that it has acquired a 50 percent stake in Stiphout Industries B.V. ("Stiphout"). Stiphout is engaged in the sourcing and processing of post-consumer plastic packaging waste. The company operates a facility located in Montfort, Netherlands with an annual processing capacity equivalent to the volume of plastic packaging waste generated by more than 500,000 Dutch citizens per year. Yvonne van der Laan, Vice President Circular and Low Carbon Solutions at LyondellBasell, said: "The investment in Stiphout aligns with our strategy to invest in recycling and plastic waste processing companies that support our existing assets in the Netherlands and Germany and fits our integrated hub model. "Through this partnership, we can leverage local synergies with our Quality Circular Polymers business in terms of logistics and operations. It also creates opportunities to further expand our CirculenRecover portfolio and develop solutions that support circular and low-carbon objectives for our customers and brand owners." Stiphout was founded in 2015 and has established itself as an innovative player in the Netherlands, gaining experience over time in processing plastic household waste into clean flakes of recycled polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) materials.
