KPMG Publishes Second 'Sustainability Report'
KPMG Türkiye, which sets its sustainability targets in alignment with the KPMG Impact Plan as its global strategy, has published its second Sustainability Report for stakeholders.
KPMG Türkiye, in line with United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and prepared with a value creation approach, published a report containing sustainability performance and data for 2020-2021 and voluntarily joined the UNGC Early Adopter group, which was implemented for the first time this year.
KPMG Türkiye Country Managing Partner Murat Alsan stated the following in his assessment included in the report:
"At KPMG, we do not define sustainability merely through mission statements; we believe that as we move toward a sustainable future, we must also proceed with bold commitments and actions. We are aware of the destructive effects of the climate crisis and its harmful impact on all living beings and ecosystems. While meeting our customers' needs in this area, we also monitor the environmental impact of our services and develop reduction strategies in this field." Alsan also emphasized that Turkey's ratification of the Paris Agreement marked significant progress in combating the climate crisis, and noted that environmental, social and governance (ESG) and technology are among the company's priority areas. Alsan referred to investments in ESG initiatives and support provided to many sectors in digitalization strategies, and added that KPMG has allocated a budget of USD 1.5 billion to ESG work.Supporting the green transition
KPMG Türkiye continued to support the green transition in 2022 through its investments in International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC) and carbon offset projects, becoming a "Carbon Neutral" company in 2021-2022, with its offices meeting their energy needs through purchased renewable energy. KPMG Global's most significant project in combating the climate crisis, the KPMG Net Zero Project, was also approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2021. Demonstrating its commitment to achieving the Net Zero target, KPMG Türkiye continues its efforts without slowing down to contribute to a low-carbon economic transition by committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030.Increasing the proportion of female employees
KPMG Türkiye, a signatory to the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and having reached a 49 percent share of female employees in 2021, aims to increase the proportion of female executives in the executive committee to 50 percent by 2025. Another notable performance of KPMG Türkiye in 2021 was in the field of education; the training hours provided in 2021 to enhance employee competencies increased by 22 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 142,000 hours.Involving employees in sustainability work
