Humanis' Sensitive Steps Toward the Future

Humanis published its 2024 Sustainability Report. As a pioneer in sustainable transformation within the sector, the company sourced 22% of its energy consumption from solar power plants in 2024. Humanis, which reduced natural gas, grid electricity and water consumption, also raised its recycling rate to 74%. Operating with the understanding that value-generating industrial structure is only possible through environmentally, socially and human-focused approaches, Humanis continues its commitment to creating a health ecosystem that considers environmental sustainability, values people and reaches all segments of society.

"Sustainable health for everyone" – guided by this principle, Humanis shared its 2024 Sustainability Report. In the report, prepared with the "Strong Future" vision, achievements in environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas, innovative projects and long-term commitments were detailed comprehensively. As of 2024, the company achieved sales of 42.6 million units and reached total revenues of TRY 3.7 billion, posting 43.1% growth.

Reduced natural gas and grid electricity consumption
As the first domestic pharmaceutical company to invest in solar energy, the company sourced 22% of its energy consumption from renewable sources in 2024. Committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in reducing its carbon footprint, the company aims to significantly lower emissions by 2030. While Humanis' solar-generated electricity consumption rose from 2,471,003 kWh in 2023 to 2,620,384 kWh in 2024, grid electricity consumption during the same period fell from 9,894,980 kWh to 9,264,620 kWh. Natural gas consumption also declined from 15,448,150 kWh to 14,055,295 kWh during this period.

Increased recycling rate to 74%
In line with the United Nations' 6th Sustainable Development Goal "Clean Water and Sanitation," Humanis places the protection and responsible use of water resources at the centre of its environmental commitments. Within this scope, the company reduced water consumption by approximately 15% in 2024, lowering it from 108,351 m³ to 92,149 m³. Through awareness-raising activities, operational improvements and systematic approaches in waste management processes, Humanis raised its recycling rate from 54% in 2023 to 74% in 2024.

Social sustainability and digital transformation
Beyond environmental sustainability, Humanis took significant steps in digitalization, human resources development and social benefit areas.

Strengthening its digital infrastructure, the company modernized its human resources and organizational culture processes with digital technologies, implementing more efficient and accessible practices. At the same time, it provided technical and competency-enhancing training to support employees' career journeys.

As a signatory to WEPs (Women's Empowerment Principles), which support women's empowerment and equal opportunity, Humanis has placed the principles of inclusion, diversity and equality at the foundation of its corporate culture. The company placed importance on awareness-raising activities to highlight the challenges women face not only in working life but throughout society. By placing inclusion, diversity and equality principles at the centre of its corporate culture, this approach strengthened employee engagement and increased employee retention rate.

Brought 200 products and over 100 molecules to Turkish medicine
Humanis is positioned as one of the top five pharmaceutical R&D centres incentivized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The centre, in full compliance with QbD (Quality by Design), EMA (European Medicines Agency) and ICH (International Council for Harmonisation) regulations, has brought approximately 200 products and over 100 molecules to Turkish medicine. In 2024, R&D activities accounted for 16.2% of the total budget.
